I understand the urgency of your dilemma. You have most likely been advised of the word-of-mouth (networking) scenario. This may seem to be enormously time-consuming, but it is an absolute, albeit eventual guarantee. Another option is to volunteer. Again, not an immediate dollar maker, but it helps to expose yourself to a diverse population, while participating in a socially helpful task. In addition to your skills, you're demonstrating your commitment to community. Character does count. You may find a career change in this arena. Don't be swayed by the irrelevant argument (age, etc). You bring a strong work ethic, value and maturity to any job you will seek, and potential employers (if they're smart) will see that. And, quite frankly, those are the kinds of employers for whom you want to work. Put yourself out there and present yourself positively as you would meeting anyone. The more you interview, the stronger you will present. Don't get discouraged by the "no thanks. Not what we're looking for." There is a job out there for you, and there is an employer eager to hire you. Good luck~

It depends on your work experience and what you want to do, and also what the company does. Age shouldn't matter, whether it's 18 or 60. I'm 22 and I'll be entering the professional workforce soon. I just know it's wrong for a company to discriminate, unless they had very strong reasons of not hiring you (ability, qualifications, health). If you have a college degree of some sort, I would say you should be able to get a job more easier.

I think that your ability to get a job depends on a lot of things, particularly the field are applying in. I don't think it is true that you won't get hired simply because of your age, but I can understand your concern that it might affect you.
Above all, make sure your resume is perfect. Have someone check it over for you who knows what to look for in a good resume. There are a lot of great tools online to help you create a perfect resume. Secondly, I believe that if you present yourself as a person who is up to date on current technology and applications, you have taken the first step towards diffusing any ageism that you might encounter, as I think young professionals' biggest reason for not hiring older applicants is the fear that they will not be able to keep up with current technological applications in the workplace. If you present yourself as a spirited, intelligent individual who has the right qualifications, you'll definitely find the perfect occupational fit.
Remember, you are as young as you feel! :)
Good luck!

I've had to hire several young kids when I'd really rather hire a more mature person. Sadly we don't get many applications from people over 30ish.
Is it possible you are applying for jobs you aren't qualified for?

You might want to consider working for yourself in a home based business. My Father is 71 years old and working with me. His plan was to supplement his pension, but it's turning into far more than that. He will never have to worry again, because a home business builds residual income. We're in the health and wellness industry and there is no shortage of customers.

First of all no employer is allowed to ask your age as part of the hiring process. Don't dress in dumpy "old person" clothes, make sure you appear excited and energetic about the position and don't act like your age entitles you to anything special.
In other words, don't act old.

You have to go to places such as Wall mart or K mart as a greeter It is very tough to find work at our age. I have a job at both and my schedules work out pretty good. Good luck and best wishes.
