Can the same employer make their employees borrow against vacation time they haven't even accrued yet instead of taking the day unpaid?

We get two different types of time. Vacation Time which we accrue by working so many hours a year and P.T.O. (Personal Time Off) time which the company gives out at the start of every year I can see a company saying you have to use the P.T.O. time since it's given to us....But we earn our vacation time and something seems illegal about forcing people to take their earned time and even borrow against time not yet earned. This is happening in the state of Mass and any info provided will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

T

I am the supervisor of a receptionist at a corporate office. I cover the receptionist when she goes to lunch, calls in sick or has to leave early. I must cover her the entire day or until I can get a temp if possible. AND I must complete all my work while doing her job as well.

My receptionist has been here for 11 months, the last 4 months she has had the following:

3 dentist appointments for her wisdom teeth and surgery
2 doctor appointments for her hives that are not visible
1 urgent care appointment to get hive medication

For these appointments she leaves 2 or 3 hours early.

And this month she has left once a week 2 hours early for doctor appointments for unknown reasons. Thats 4 times this month!

I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt so I never asked for doctor notes.

What can she possibly have wrong that she needs to go the doctors weekly? She is NOT pregnant.

Do I have a bad employee? I think she is over the job and is flaking out!

I'm in the process of applying for a few jobs here and there and a few have requested a cover note/letter with my CV. Thing is, im not too sure what should really be included in a cover note/letter or the purpose so some answers would be very much appreciated - the quicker the better!

Cheers in Advance! x

The reason I ask is that I was a political science major at a school with a reputation for being liberal. When I go to interviews I have employers ask me if "oh, you went to the University of ------, thats a liberal /left wing/radical school isn't it? So the employer does not come out and say it but nevertheless brings politics into it, even though the job is not a political one.

I work in a call center, and this induvidual is supposed be on our "helpdesk", meaning he's supposed to help people that have questions. Whenever someone else asks him for help, he's really helpful and nice to them, but if I do, he treats me like I'm incompetent, and he's very rude to me. He almost cost me a customer yesterday because he told me we couldn't do something for him, which was not true. I don't believe I've been rude or nasty to him, and it's not a perception problem on my part. Other people have asked me why I put up with it. I don't want to act like a whiny baby, but I am tired of putting up with this. What should I do?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I work for a really sweet boss, who lends me a hand when I need it. It's a small assembly plant with about 20 people. The job pays well, but offers no insurance, and sometimes it can be a little stressful, due to all the mistakes out back in the warehouse.
I am being offered a job with a nice lawyer as office manager, (same thing I do now) same pay with insurance, it will be just the two of us working at the office. I'm confused, don't know if to stay at my present job or start a new.
