How much weight does an online degree carry when applying for a job? I saw a website recently that offered degrees based on your life or work experience. That sounds too good to be true. Does anyone know of the fastest, most cost effective way to obtain some type of degree without physically attending school that would have real credibility on a resume?

I have worked for a company for 15yrs. I do like the kind of work I do but I feel like I have hit a brick wall. I got this job straight out of high school and worked my way up from a grunt to a package desiner with no college education. Now have advanced as far as they will let me and im boared with it. I can barely get myself out of bed to go anymore. I have a family that depends on me because I am the sole bread winner and we cannot afford a cut in pay or a move. Has anyone else been in this position and felt this way and what did you do?

I'm originaly from Chicago. About a year ago, I moved to Phoenix. While I was there I had a great job with benefits and vacation and everything. I moved back to Chicago (right, what was I thinking?), and found out that it really is harder to get a job here without a degree. I was wondering if anybody thinks this way also or has noticed this too?

I spoke with my boss and he said the policy is just a guideline not what they practice. I talked to a couple of other employees at my job and asked them about starting a union. A couple of days later I ended up in another supervisors office being questioned about why I was talking about starting a union and that we don't need a union. Soon after this meeting I started getting held over later and later. No one else is being held over as late as me. They refuse to replace my company uniforms even though they are ragged. The kicker is today I worked with a new partner and he said he was sent to work with me to watch what I am doing and report to the supervisors. My question is I'm I being harrassed? I feels like it.

I have a staff member who I worked with at a prior Company where I was her manager. I recruited her to come with me when I changed jobs. She is technically good in one area of her job but she has an anger management problem. Because of this, she has had numerous personal problems (including three events involving police - one being an arrest and one requiring her to be detained by police) that have created issues with her arriving to work on time and has resulted in her missing many days from work. In addition, she resist authority and wears overly revealing clothing. She has been insolate with me on several occasions. I want to "manage" her out of the Company - send the message that she is no longer needed at the Company and that she should start looking for another job. What suggestions do you have for m e to get rid of her without outright firing her? Even though New York is an at-will state, in order to fire someone there must be cause so this is the best approach.

I've seen resumes with one page, two pages, even five pages. I've read books that say that one should never exceed two pages or else the resume won't be read at all. But for someone who may have a long business experience, it can be quite difficult to summarize his/her whole business life in two pages, specially when you have to attract other people's attention to your abilities and accomplishments. What's the common sense in that ?
