In London there are currently many career fairs, or recruitment events by many companies. Can anyone provide some tips of how to follow up after you attend these events? The ultimate purpose of attending is finding a job; but since so many people turn up at these events, what can you do to stand out?

I am conducting some research into working as a secretary / PA as a career and wondered how many secretaries / PA's actually worked in London as there are so many job sites specialising in that area!

Ive jus realised i chose the worst course in the world, im studying law for the past 4 years but i dont wanna become a solicitor and if i did, id have to do another 5 years of study. actually it seems that if i want to do anythin i have to go on to do more college work, ive spent 4 years in the classroom for what, nothing. iv no work experience or anything. at a recent college careers fair all the jobs open to me involved moving to dublin which i cant afford nor can i stand (no offence) its too hectic for me. besides i have a life and a family were i am and moving is not an option.
i work in a department store part time and im afraid im gonna be stuck there for the rest of my life.
any one ever in a similar situation and what did they do ??

You go for a job which is advertised as salary negotiable.
At the interview, you state what you would like, and you also state your bottom line.

You are verbally offered the job starting at your bottom line, meeting you halfway after about three months with the potential to go to your desired salary later on.

You agree in principle to this but when the formal offer (in writing) arrives it states salary as per verbal agreement of which you have no evidence....

How would you respond?

I'm going to be graduating from university soon and I want to work in London; I lived in London for over a year as a student and loved it. But I am unsure how to go about finding a job in the UK when I'm living in the States. Are there any good resources or places to look if you're a non-EU citizen looking to make a move to the UK?

I am already currently working in quite a large organisation as a manager. The new job isstarting as a manager, but looking toward area within the year (Almost Gaurenteed). I mean almost because... they are literally just starting up. They have one outley (which looking at the figures does very well). They are looking at expanding fast and want me on board.
Do I stay with the already established company, knowing my job is safe, or, Start with this new one. With the higher wage, the scope to advance quicker, but has very little history??

My husbands employer has hired a known child molester and he's being "forced" to work in the same vacinity as this person. The sad part is he has informed his employer of this and they tell him there's nothing they can do a about it.
This "man" knows others know what he has done and he taunts them, trying to instigate a fight w/my husband and anyone else he's in the mood to aggrivate.
How is it an employer can fire someone for smoking weed yet, when they find something like this out about an employee there's nothing the employer can do.
Don't the people who have been in a companies employ for years have a say about who they are co-workers with? This person IS on the sex offender registery and makes other employees VERY uncomfortable. Is there NOTHING the employer/other employees can do legally before things get out of hand ?
I would hate to see somebody lose their way of making a living because of this idiot.

I had re-occuring tonsilitis, and I had missed time, as a Telemarketer, I couldn't read my script with tonsilitis, it affected my performance, and attendance, tired of being hauled into the office and being placed on warning's..I went back to my doctor to explained the situation.. he gave me a note saying it was too stressful. The fact it became a habit of being hauled into the office asking about my missed time, placed on warning's, for attendance and performance, I was up to the escalation process.. with doctor's notes or not.. it never made a difference.. we had 10 days out of the year, doctor's notes didn't matter.. it still counted as 10 days gone. So, I decided to take the note saying it was too stressful, and left.
I have a new job interview, and first thing their going to ask.. reason for leaving your previous job?
What would be the best way to sum all of that lovely crap up.. LoL
