I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I work for a really sweet boss, who lends me a hand when I need it. It's a small assembly plant with about 20 people. The job pays well, but offers no insurance, and sometimes it can be a little stressful, due to all the mistakes out back in the warehouse.
I am being offered a job with a nice lawyer as office manager, (same thing I do now) same pay with insurance, it will be just the two of us working at the office. I'm confused, don't know if to stay at my present job or start a new.

what I always tell people is to sit down and do 2 resumes if it were 4 years from now. One if you were to stay at the same job and the second if you had taken the other job... list all the work you have done and see which one makes you more marketable.....

Actually do it, don't just do it in your head, it looks a lot different when you see it in writing.......

Best of luck....

I'd be cautious because there are no such thing as a nice liar Oops I mean a nice lawyer. Insurance would be nice but just the two of you in office I don't think that's what you want but you could ask your boss if you can have a couple of weeks off for a holiday, then go to this guy to see if what he has to offer is really what it is and not just getting you into his office. Most lawyers are demanding and controlling people so I'd be cautious because your going there to work but he might have alternative ideas and once he has you then you may be stuck and won't be able to bale out.
What happened to the other receptionist, did you ask. Did he have his way with her and got bored of her and found a reason to dump her or she didn't didn't let him have his way and still dumped her.
I decided to add it's better to work for the devil you know than than the devil you don't know.

A sweet boss is worth alot. I have had bad bosses and know someone right now who wants to quit because she has a bad boss. He makes her job miserable every day and she cries to me in emails. She is there because she is getting insurance, but told me, it's so bad at work, she is willing to take her chances and loose it.

Why not apply for State Insurance? (You can apply with the state). I have it and it covers everything. Best of all, it's free. It's worth a look into before you leap into something you may be sorry for later.

Good Luck no matter which choice you make. Go with your 'gut' feeling..

PS: Ironically, I worked for two lawyers. I hated them. They were so cold and always complained no matter how I tried. I eventually quit.

These days it is very important to have health insurance. If your current job does not or cannot offer health insurance, take the new job. Just be up front and honest with your current boss and tell her that you just need the health insurance. You have to look out for you!

I've learned from personal experience that you have to do what you need to do. If you are going to be paid the same and get insurance then I take the job. You could always talk to your boss and discuss that you want insurance and see what happens. But you have to take care of yourself.

I've been in the same situation. When I left for a better job, I got crap from the "really sweet boss". They turned their back on me in no time. So if it is better for you, than forget about your current boss. They don't care about you as much as you do about them. Always take care of your life. I did this change and thank God it is much better. So if you feel it is good for you, go for it.

Making changes can be a scary thing. The good thing is it passes. Just by the info you have given I personally would go with the attorney job. I enjoy the legal aspect of life. I have done a lot of legal work for myself and friends over the years. Search your heart and ask God to lead you.

Yes, its a dilemma. It depends I guess on how much you value the insurance.
