I got to start somewhere right? but what do you guys think? how am I supposed to get hired when my resume's too short? or wait, let me rephrase - WHERE am I supposed to get hired? If there are any employers out there (especially from retail stores), please share your perspectives.

I only had one job, but I'm pretty good with many things like communication, housekeeping, organizing, flexible hours, punctual, dependable, and other possibly helpful qualities. I'm not necessarily aiming for a retail clothing store, but anything will do. I just sometimes have a fear of dealing with angry customers because I fear that if I argue back, things will turn out horribly wrong. So fast food places for me are definitely out of the question. Anyway, back to my main question, would you guys (assuming I'm speaking to employers) hire someone with a "starting" or small resume like me? If not, then what should I do?

I have work-study at the Career Services department of my college. My work-study supervisor told me that I should start charging and contracting to do freelance desktop publishing. And she knows I am in the process of creating a portfolio, to make money on the side.
She is a very by the books type person and she doesn’t want to bend any rues to help any
Students. BUT she also is an author, but she wants me to design a flyer and cover for her
book under work-study pay. I don't think this is fair because I am being paid by the school , and if she went out to contract someone she would have to pay out of pocket, a lot more than $7 an hour.
I am shocked because she is trying to take advantage of me and is coming up with all these ideas for a flyer but she isn’t sayin anything about paying me, she is trying to make it under work-study, what should I tell my hypocrite boss?

I interviewed for a job two weeks ago. They seemed to be very interested in me, and said they would call me back in a week or so for a second interview. I have not heard back from them, nor have I got a rejection letter. What should I think or do?

Just last week I got a "very satisfied" evaluation and this week I was fired because I cried at my desk and made a personal phone call. What is unsatisfactory work performance or should I take legal action for being fired for something stupid?

Hi all,

Ever been in the situation where you had a job interview to go to but were already working full-time? I'm not able to swap shifts with anyone. What might be a good and believable excuse to be absent for just one day - any ideas? Cheers!

If you are supposed to get paid on the 1st and the 16th of every month and the 1st falls on the weekend, you should get paid on that Fri before NOT the Mon after. Am I right or am I just being irrational because I have to wait till Mon to get my cash money?
