If you are supposed to get paid on the 1st and the 16th of every month and the 1st falls on the weekend, you should get paid on that Fri before NOT the Mon after. Am I right or am I just being irrational because I have to wait till Mon to get my cash money?

It really depends on the company's policy, but I agree with you, it definitely should be that way!

At my job, we usually get paid on the Friday before, but at the last company, I'd have to wait till Monday. And if Monday was a holiday, I'd have to wait till Tuesday! Like the others said, it depends on the company (and what payroll distributor they use, if I'm not mistaken).

Also, direct deposit is the best! I haven't received paper paychecks in years (and I've had three different jobs throughout those years). My money was waiting for me by the morning of payday! :-)

It's different with every company... Some will pay before the 1st depending if they have it available...most wait til the following Monday. It's a crappy thing but it happens. It really depends on the company and their policies. Check your hand book if you got one and it should say how they do their pays.
Sorry

You're not right, nor are you wrong. It depends on company policy and what you agreed to.

Seriously, after you've waited 15 days to be paid for your work, you're going to squabble over an extra day or three?

i agree with you 100%! i do not think you're being irrational, however, do you think you can do anything to get this changed? are there others at your company who agree with you? could you go to the boss & discuss it?
if none of these things are options - forget about it. no sense getting worked up everytime payday falls on a weekend. you don't need the added stress.

Sign up for direct deposit. Or, the check should be issued with the date of the 1st or 15th for cashing. Call the labor board if they don't.

I do agree with you but it all depends on the bank the company uses and the company it self.

it all boils down to company policy.
