In practice, I tend to view a first interview as them assessing me - the second is for me to decide if I like them. So be prepared to ask a few questions yourself - you've had time to think since the first interview, so request some more detail about the role, how it fits in with the rest of the team, how you will be able to develop it going forwards etc.

Of course, it all depends on the type of job too. Are you even seeing the same person again - a lot of firms in my line of work have a second interview with a different manager so that they can both get a feel for how they would get on with you and so on.

They are doing one of two things. Either offering you the job or they have you in the 'final' decision. Which ever it is, just do as you did previously. You may wish to consider doing some research on the company prior to the second interview (to have a stronger advantage). Good Luck!

Second interviews are usually to assess fit. It's your chance to try to gauge how you would like working there, and it's their chance to have some potential coworkers or other managers talk to you to try to get a read on how you would fit into the company's and department's culture.

So you been called for second interview. Does that get your hope a little higher? I think you will get more questions.

I been through some interviews than they said they would call me back for second interview. Which never happened. Gone through that so many times, I conclude it would not get my hope any higher. (some times lower).

They will have you meet with area supervisor and they may ask a few questions that relate to the job at hand, how you deal with people etc. Now it will be more geared to the job. If they feel you get along with them you may get the job if not that's usually where it stops.

They will probably have you meet other people that work there. They have decided that you could at least handle the job, now they would like to see how you would get along with co-workers and if the people working there like you.
