In their time, I think unions were absolutely necessary. Factory workers were vastly underpaid and put in dangerous situations, just so management's pockets would be lined.

These days, though, I think unions have outlived their usefulness. They now are strangling corporations and keeping companies from staying competitive. US automakers are going bankrupt, while unskilled laborers in their plants are making 80K/year, and they can't be fired no matter how much they screw up.

Unions. They are corrupt and give your money to people that don't have your best interests at heart. Why do you think that back in the 40's and 50's unions were run by the mafia. Anyone heard of Jimmy Hoffa? He was the leader of the Teamsters union until he died. Unions also are an industrial age idea. We are now in the information age, so there really is no need for unions anymore. I will admit that there are some really bad managers out there, but I know that there are far more bad unions out there. Managers are only one person. A lot of Unions are so big they are becoming Beauracys with a lot of red tape, when that happens it is time to switch to something else.

without a doubt management. The work force only wants to be paid fairly, have a safe work place, and a say in their future. not all companys hate unions but the ones who do have dictator type management that just can't stand anyone other than them having a suggestion or point of view

Sorry for the crassness, but I'd rather suck on the **** I can see, than be surprised from behind by the one I can't. Unions promise a lot, and rarely deliver. Sure, management does the same, but they don't collect extra money for the privilege of screwing us over.

Management. The unions make sure they stay in line, and managers hate unions because they look over their shoulders all the time.

I love my union

individuals are in simple terms searching for a replace. u.s. has develop right into a "less expensive" united states. the overall public needs issues on the bottom prices they could get. So outsourcing truly saves funds, and thats what individuals are maximum in touch about. If there are human beings to do your job, for more competitively priced pay, why wouldnt the organisation do this? They dont care about you, they care about themselves. Union workers favor to regulate and demand what they favor, thats what they're for even with each and every thing.

Both have their drawbacks.

Management tends to get a bit greedy.

Unions tend to protect the lazy and otherwise unemployable; which could be a good thing -- that way I don't have to pay for them through welfare programs.

But for the most part, they both suck royally.
