i'm being told that there is no job for me on monday morning. i phoned the references i gave myself when i got home and they were easily accessible. c'mon agency workers shame the devil and tell the truth are you not a bunch of parasitical bullshitters . come friday afternoon book numbers are a bit low so you phone round looking for new victims. do you have such a low opinion of your fellow man that you think they are there to fill your pockets with money. for shame.

Here is a different perspective. As in any business, there are rotten eggs in recruitment business. Pls don't let a few of these poison your efforts to find a job. I think if you have a good resume, are willing to make some accomodations (e.g. willing to travel, willing to accept market compensation for your skills, willing to relocate) you open up your chances of getting hired. Also, if you contact hiring managers directly--e.g. from classified ads from smaller companies who don't go thru recruiters, you will succeed.

Another thing---never give out references until you are close to an offer by the hiring manager and have had direct interviews with them. Recruiters who ask for references from the getgo are exactly how you describe them---parasites and lowlife. It is an established practice of recruitment that while references are "available" they are not given out till employer gets serious about hiring the candidates.
