I received a job offer today but I think it's too low - how do I go about asking for more money? This is a professional financial position. They gave me a week to decide and let them know. Thanks for all the input.

on a background check I ran on myself so I could see what potential employers see? She's listed as living with us on one of those background checks. Her last name is the same as ours but she shouldn't be listed as in our household. Not that it's a big deal, I'm just curious how these things work, how the incorrect information gets loaded up onto these things.

Is it okay to omit the "objective" from a resume if I want to apply for a different position or more than one type of job?

For example, most of my previous experience include clerical/data entry, and some retail or customer service. I want to try applying for a waitress/server position, but I"m not sure if I can use the same functional resume and delete the objective and/or revise the skills summary.

I tried to find some info. on the web, but I was unable to find advice on how to revise if one wants to change a job.

Pls. help, thanks.

If you were an HR manager & asked the interviewee
"why did you choose XYZ(say engineering) as your course"

And the candidate replies:
The primary reason, I chose “XYZ” is because I love challenges and this course offers something to look forward to everyday, which makes it even more enjoyable. It helps me develop myself intellectually and to prepare for challenges ahead. Also, I am passionate about XYZ.

What do you think of the answer? How would you rate the candidate? what feedback would you have for him/her? Any ideas how it could be worded better?

I get a 5% raise every year like clockwork (it's the max at my company). Is this considered good? I also get a little bump in my year-end bonus that translates to about %1 of my overall salary+bonus. Should I be pressing for more?

I'm in my 3rd year of school, I have all the generals requirements out of the way and I can't decide on my major. I'd originally wanted to do accounting, then I thought teaching (elementary), which is great and all, but I don't know if I want to deal with all the regulations and garbage teachers have to deal with, like No Child Left Behind and stuff like that. I think there's a demand for teaching and accounting. I love dealing with numbers and financial stuff, so I'm thinking I might consider accounting again. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

I was fired for no reason. I won the unemplyment hearing. Now I keep getting phone calls from the people who fired me offering a position that they made up. It's at a store that has cash problems. It looks like a set up to me. You see, I was to receive truck at 7:30 am and it never showed up. I found out that everyone in the store knew it but me. They changed my schedule that day, without telling me, from 7:30-3:30 to 10:00-6:30. So now I was to be at work from 7:30 to 6:30. I was mad. I wrote down on a piece of scratch paper that I wanted to take my vacation and then turn in my two weeks notice. This is what I do when I'm mad, I write stuff down. I saw the boss was in the store, so I went and threw it away. 5 days later she said I was gone, she accepts my resignation. It wasn't a resignation, it wasn't to anybody and it wasn't signed. I won unemployment and now they are trying to hire me back. I think I need to file a lawsuit but want to be sure I have grounds. Can anyone help?
