call and simply say that you will not be into to work today because your're feeling a little mentally ill.

you shouldn't really have to have an excuse.... just that you didn't feel well. but i always worry about what to say when i go back and usually nobody even says anything except how are you feeling..so don't worry

besides calling in sick, you can always say that there was a family emergency, someone slashed your tires, your car got robbed or vandalized, you got food poisoning, etc.
