I am writing an essay on this for my class and would like to get any information you may have on this subject. My thesis statement will be women receive less training than men but are held to higher promotional standards than men. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I applied for a job a few days ago that I REALLY REALLY want (online app.) Someone called today for an interview at a completely different place.. but I found out it's practically next door to the place where the job is that I really want. Would it be ridiculous for me to stop in and ask about my application submission, or should I just call, or maybe just wait?

you know, in these application forms, asking you "what made you apply to this job".
I was wondering, what you'd say, would you say how good the company is, how your skills match their requirement or is it somethin' on the lines". How exactly would you phrase your answer if you were asked this in an interview.
Would appreciate any help

Why is it a bad thing to be fired? Don't you think the employers can be kind of strict, harsh and demand a lot out of you? And some employers just can never be satisfied with anyone's performance. Also, employers may not be that fair and impartial to the employees either... They can fire you if they don't like you too and they don't have to give you a reason either. So, why say getting fired is a bad thing when it could be the employer's fault ??

Recently I posted a question trying to find suggestions for a way to earn extra money at home. I work full-time now and I'm just looking for extra money. Someone suggested that I take a 'phone actress' job. Which is a sex hotline. It doesn't sound right for me cause I don't think I would be left speechless...lol...but I was wondering if anyone has done this and how it was?

I am having this experience with a state job with Arizona. What kind of job is it if you have that experience and what do you think of having to learn many information and pass the tests in order to keep the job?? Is it common with many jobs or not very common that you have to learn many things and pass many tests in order to keep the job?? Also, falling behind with the training can also cause you to be terminated. Do you think that's kind of strict or harsh that you can be terminated if you fall behind with the others in training ??

I got a new job, and I already know what i am doing since I've done it for five yrs. My 'boss' is this insanely bitchy woman that constantly yells at me and stands over me. The other co-worker explained that she is this way, and she goes to him to tell him the things she things I have done wrong on my shift. *includes me taking a drink of coffee while working*. She is the worst person I have ever worked with! She yells at me all the time, constantly looks for things to accuse me of and can never admit to a mistake that she has made. I, however, have no problem in admitting a mistake, and apoligizing for it and doing a better job. How can I deal with this woman without going completely NUTS on her? I mean, i know that soon enough I will probably end up pinning her against the wall and spitting in her face for making me feel like a PEON! I am well over-qualified for this job...and I am only doing it for income while looking for something better..

My co-workers often want to get together outside the office. I usually do not want to go. I like to keep my work life at work and my personal life personal. I sometimes feel like telling them that I see them 40+ hours a week at work I like to be with my other friends outside the work place, how should I tell them without offending anyone, personally I feel I do not have to offer an explanation but I often get asked by a few of them what do you have to do that is so important? My response to that is usually a smile and I walk away.

Hello! I graduated in Dec. '05 with a BS degree in Communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. I don't want to go into a broadcasting job, but I got so far along in my degree I just finished it to have it. I'm now considering the idea of going back to school and getting a master's in PR to make myself marketable in the corporate world. My problems with PR are that I have never liked the idea of manipulating the public. PR always appeared to be a rather sleazey idea (no offense intended) I think that if I worked for a non-profit, a school system or a hospital, it would be easier to deal with and more fullfilling to me. Does anybody here presently or formerly work in Public Relations? What is a typical day like? Do you like it/hate it and why? If you left, why did you leave and what are you doing now? Sorry for the loaded question.

When you interview for a job and they say they'll get back to you on Friday, should you wait to hear from them on Friday, or go ahead and call them on Friday - would it seem pushy, or show that you have initiative and really want the job?

And if you do call on Friday, what should you say if you actually get them on the phone? How would you phrase it?
