I applied for a job a few days ago that I REALLY REALLY want (online app.) Someone called today for an interview at a completely different place.. but I found out it's practically next door to the place where the job is that I really want. Would it be ridiculous for me to stop in and ask about my application submission, or should I just call, or maybe just wait?

You should ALWAYS follow up your applications (paper OR online) with a call, about a week later.
Tell them you are still very interested in the position, and politely ask if it is still open.
This shows you are a go-getter, which employers love!

Go for it stop and check to make sure they got you app. or ask to fill another one out so they would have a hard copy of it, it is good to show some initiative.

Many people send a follow up letter after submiting an application and resume. If you are embarrased to stop in send a follow up letter instead. Microsoft has many templates online for just that. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe I'd just call. Say something like," I'm just checking the status of my application" give them a few days though.
Good luck!
