you are absolutely right. sometimes being fired is the BEST thing that can happen to you!
i've been fired twice---both times being fired got me out of an extremely unpleasant situation. in both circumstances i did my job flawlessly, but had personality conflicts with my bosses. neither one of them appreciated being viewed as only slightly more intelligent than a slug.
yes---i suppose some people would view it as bad if their self-image were tied up into what they did. luckily for me, my self-image is intact---i don't identify my sense of self-worth by the job i do.
so yes, i agree with you. sometimes being fired is a good thing!

Employers fire employees for many reasons, lack of budget to pay an employee, attendence is a big one(most people get fired on this one). Sometimes employers are just not playing by the rules so they burn them and turn employees to make money and move on. Being fired is a bad and good thing. Now unless you are union or under contract you can not be fired (unless you break the law) . Wrong full termantion is a hard one to prove... Good luck

I've been fired twice and both times were not my fault I don't think. The first time was from KFC. I went in one day and was informed I didn't have a job and I wasn't told why. Then about two months ago I was fired from BP, which I think was on extremely lame terms. You're only allowed to get 3 cash shortages and I had one I already knew of, and there was a gas shortage I was never informed of, so that was supposedly my second one, then I had another cash shortage and my manager waited 3 weeks to even tell me about it, so when I asked her if she could look on camera to investigate it, she couldn't. Which I'm sure she had that all planned out, just so she could fire me.
Employers act like it's a sin to be fired, but they need to stop and realize sometimes you have no control over the situation. Because of BP, two months later and I'm still looking for a job.
I honestly believe I've been dealt a bad hand.

I'm curious to know how old you are? I am a supervisor for a company which deals with tradespeople and I've noticed a huge problem with younger, new employees. Both my parents were teachers and I can remember as their carrers were winding down them saying the system has gone for a s**t. They do'nt grade anymore because its discriminatory, they do'nt discipline anymore because, its not allowed. I think I, being in a supervisory role, am feeling the effects of the changes made to the educational system. these younger people do not want to work, do not accept critisism or discipline so therefore do not learn and are therefore useless to our company. Also, if you are being fired from more than one place it should be a flag that you are probably the problem. You may, from time to time encounter a "bad employer" but not all of them are and if your problem is cyclical, perhaps you best look at yourself.

As a general rule, employers do not fire people without cause. The cost of recruiting and training staff make it a bad business decision to fire people without a justification that offsets these costs. That being said, some people (especially in small non-professional organizations) will fire people because they do not have the managerial skills needed to counsel and rehabilitate problem employees.

If you quit/get fired from somewhere once and then go back, then yes, you can get fired more than once. I've seen it happen many times at the good ol' Swiss. If you get fired from a place once though, it's usually the bottom line. People want the money that they are investing in you to go to good use. If you're just messing around at your job, they don't want to pay you for that. They can fire you for not liking you, but when they fire you they can't tell you that that's the reason because that's prejudism and you can fight that.

Getting fired ounce is sometimes no big deal. It may be for one of many reasons which had nothing to do with the employee's performance.
When someone has a history of being fired frequently it is often a red flag to future employers.

Certain professions such as coaches, investment bankers, actors, radio hosts, etc. get fired all the time and it means nothing.
On the other hand, if a teacher gets fired, the employee really screwed up or broke the law.
Depends on the job and the reason for getting fired....or "restructured out of a job".

I wouldn't say that it was common. If you've been fired more than once you may want to take a close look at yourself and make sure that it's not you instead of the company. There's a good reason why they call working "work" and not "play".
