I got a new job, and I already know what i am doing since I've done it for five yrs. My 'boss' is this insanely bitchy woman that constantly yells at me and stands over me. The other co-worker explained that she is this way, and she goes to him to tell him the things she things I have done wrong on my shift. *includes me taking a drink of coffee while working*. She is the worst person I have ever worked with! She yells at me all the time, constantly looks for things to accuse me of and can never admit to a mistake that she has made. I, however, have no problem in admitting a mistake, and apoligizing for it and doing a better job. How can I deal with this woman without going completely NUTS on her? I mean, i know that soon enough I will probably end up pinning her against the wall and spitting in her face for making me feel like a PEON! I am well over-qualified for this job...and I am only doing it for income while looking for something better..

Yeah, I can't document it to her superior...because it's her brother-in-law. And she is one of those people that can NEVER BE WRONG. I've turned the other cheek....but one of these days.....wow. Yeah, I just don't know what to do to get her off of my back. Fighting with her will just make her worse, as I've been told. I am just trying to make the best of it.....but she is really pushing my buttons. I stand up for myself all the time, but she refuses to compromise. I just don't know what to do to deal with it. Just the other day, she locked me in another part of the office away from my coffee that I took a drink of..and told the other staff I was eating on the job while I was supposed to be working. I am sorry, but I haven't started to eat coffee cups yet.....lol..... Should I confront her? I'm not worried about being fired or anything, but I am going to do this until I find something better...and I need it to work out while I am there. I deserve much better...I admit.

Oh, and then she had the NERVE to tell the other employees that works there that I talk about them! I don't even know them! I've only been there a freaking week! SO now I am having to explain myself to them that I didn't talk about them, I've never said anything to her personal....only discussed the business and work! So now, the other people think I gossip! And since I can't stand her, the last thing I would do is to talk trash about people I don't even know, the only thing I have said to her is that I thought they were nice when I met them! And since this is a privately owned company, there is no way to tell anyone. So, should I get a lawyer or cut my losses and get the hell out? Cause this is BULLSH**!

If she is this horrid toward you and degrading you by talking trash about you, it appears that she is trying to get the acceptance of others to agree with her of your flaws. Which they probably do to keep her off of their backs. Others have expressed to you that she is always like this so they must have had their share of her judgemental opinions. And now, you are the scapegoat for her. You are the newest employee.
If coffee is offered to all employees, there should be no problem with you having a cup or two. Does she drink coffee? Water? A pop on company time? Who is she to say what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander? Does she go to the restroom on company time? If you are being honest here, She better lighten up and reread the company policy. Did you get a copy? You are entitled to one as well as a 10 minute break every two hours if you are working a 40 hr week.
For her to demeener you in front of other employees or to speak unruley of you to them is called slander. Look that up in the law library and you will see that what she is doing is against the law. Did you know that you could sue the company for allowing this to happen especialy when her brother inlaw is aware of her inadiquacies and untollerable nature toward you and others?
I hope I've helped you here and opened your eyes. Document everything that you possibly can. What she has said to you as well as what others have told you she has said. Are her statements toward you directed at you or the job you are doing. And last but not least, by her locking you in a room away from your (per say) coffee, not only did she break the law, but she put your well being in jeopardy. What if you were claustephobic or if there was a fire. Something to consider. Good luck my friend...

Wow sounds like that bit** needs to get Laid. That aside do you really need the job that bad that you will take that sort of abuse? If you do decide to stay make sure you document every thing. So when you reach that breaking point you can go over her head with a whole file of information. Your human resource department will be all over her ***. If not you lawyer will. I recently saw an article on how to deal with a boss who is a A** Hole. Tray a search and I am sure you will find something.

It's up for you to decide. You have to weigh out your options. Quit and find a job at a place that makes you happy or stay and deal with your boss every workday for the income. Do what you think is it right.

Grit your teeth and bear it until you find something else. I agree with documentation, but only if you plan on sticking around. Step up your efforts to get the heck out of Dodge ASAP! This is beyond unreasonable, and shouldn't be tolerated.
