I am 30 years old, and I have been writing in journals since i have been 16 or so. I have had some major life experiences and I have a story to tell. Everyone that had read what I have written has been glued to thier seats. Now all I need to do is get published. But how? Anyone know? I have searched online, been to the library. Very frustrated. How do people do this?

What would be a realistic amount to ask for? I don't want to go too high as they won't even consider me but if I go too low then the same reasoning applies. I'm on about £12000/$22000 at the moment but I'm working in a bank. Would $25000 be appropriate? The job is in LA. Thank you

Here it is....
There is someone I work with on a daily basis that is slightly higher in rank than me. This person was just hired in a few months ago and promoted fast because he has a higher degree than me. He came into this company and field not knowing anything about the field and the facility we work at. I end up and have been for months now...training him. He comes to me with all his questions and whatever he doesnt know how to do. He then proceeds to sit on the internet or read the paper or talk on his cell phone the whole shift we have together. I end up doing all the work. It has gotten to a point where it is extremely upsetting. I've tried to do things like offer him this or that "because both has to be done, which would you rather do?"...
But this has really started to bother me because it is just like me managing him or babysitting him or something. My District Manager does not want to listen to any complaint I have.
What do I do?

To make a long story short, I have two jobs...one at the bank and another I'm a cashier at a retail store. Of course they are two completely different jobs but they are one of the same because they both deal with customers. When I deal with my customers, I like to be knowledgable, friendly, and overall nice and witty. Sometimes I even go out of my way to find out information for my customer learning a little bit more for future reference in the process. Some people say I'm over stepping my boundaries and being goody two shoe but this is just the way that I carry myself, inside and outside of my job. I'm just always eager to learn about people, my job, and everything. Sometimes when I look around, some people just don't seem to take their jobs serious enough...they lack motivation and skills that most people need to perform their job. And of course the professional attitude also...is it just me being a goody two shoe or am I right?

It is important to remember that THEY are paying you to do a job. If you don't like your job, OK quit. If you are using time (time that they are paying you for), are you not a thief? Can you be proud of being a thief?

I have worked my butt off for Wal-Mart and have had an almost perfect attendance record for that place for over 3 years. I've applied for dozens of jobs and been rejected every time. I and every single one of my co-workers I work with overnight hate that store and only work there for the mere fact that we are trying to find better work. The place has no soul and no opportunities whatsoever. It hires some of the most incompetent and unreliable people possible. What should I do to escape Wal-Mart? Looking for sound advice. Thanks!

I have scheduled a oversea vacation about 3 weeks in Oct. with my current employer. But last week I suddenly got a call about a previous job application. They moved very fast and today I just got the verbal offer from them. But now I am worrying about when to tell the new employer about my vacation? It's really a short period to Oct. I already booked the flight ticket. I don't want to create more obstacles for moving the offer forward. But I still want behave professionally and let the new employer agree to it as early as possible.

just complain about bosses some days they say good morning and

I work as a computer operator in a small, two-person office. The computer that I use all day is the only one in the office that is hooked up to the Internet. My Internet history records indicate that when I leave the office for the evening, my boss is using the computer to visit pornographic web sites. I figure if this was being done on his own computer, it would be his business. But assuming the activity that accompanies his porn surfing, and his jizzy hands all over my mouse and keyboard is a bit unsettling when I sit down at my desk the next morning. The other day I even found one of his pubic hairs next to my box of tissues.

I'm not sure how I should deal with this. Bringing up the subject with him would be very awkward and difficult for me to do, and would likely create an uneasy and strange working environment/relationship between the two of us. And trying my best to ignore it would only mean he would continue his evening "ritual". Any ideas?

I work in a family business and make base $66,000.00 with overtime it can be up up to $70,000.00 to $74,000.00. I have a company truck (with free gas and insurance) and we have a covered HMO for our whole family (which she complains about the deductable). I am 33 years old.
Most of my wife's friends' husbands are automotive engineers and live in nicer houses.
I made the comment that they probably don't spend as much as we do and she insists that they make more than I do but can't tell me how much more.
Basically I think she spends too much and she thinks I am being taken advantage of at work. Who is right?

I'd like to hear opinions on the best and/or most typical career path to become a CEO, including degrees, etc.

If anyone knows of a site that give the educational background and previous experience of today's CEOs, that would be great too.

My husband's pay day is every other Tuesday. Well Tuesday came and went and he was told the paychecks weren't ready b/c payroll wasn't in to do them. And last paycheck was late b/c last Tuesday was fourth of July so their excuse was it was a holiday. Understandable. But why didn't he get it on Wednesday then? He got his check on Thursday a whole two days after his normal pay day! Please someone tell me if what this place is doing is legal!?!?!?!?
