I just passed my California Property and Casulty exam last week and my boss said he won't give me a raise. I took the exam because the other licensed person is leaving next week. If I wouldn't have passed he really wouldn't have anyone who is licensed. He paid for the first test (which I didn't pass) but I paid for the 2nd test, the crash course and fingerprinting. I really don't want to tell you guys how much he pays me, because it's embarassing. I took the job because I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn something new, I've been in the mortgage industry for the past 5 years. I took the low pay because I knew I had no experiance in Insurance, but thought I would get more money once I got licensed. My question is should I get another job? I feel bad that he paid for the first test and now I am just going to leave. I have a 1 year old son and could really use a raise, anyone have any advice? I also wouldn't know were to even look for a job?? Can anyone help?

We've used the same tax preparer for many years. Nothing fancy, one of the big name franchise's. Without any major deductions or audit flags we've been selected for an IRS audit. My wife and I are both W-2 workers and collectively earn just under $100K/yr, claim standard deductions (mortgage interest, kids (no EIC), nominal business expenses -- less than $1000/yr for business supplies, lunches, etc... and some mileage for business travel in a car that I own, (less than 10K miles per year and I'm in B2B sales), no investment losses or non-standard or "creative" deductions). Just seems so odd that we'd be selected for an audit. Is my tax preparer accountable to me for this audit? Is selection totally arbitrary or, are certain flags looked for?

I was trying to figure out the laws in Texas. I have read my lease and it doesn't say anything about military spouses, only servicemen. My husband is not on the lease though. Okay the full story. I moved into this apartment complex before we were married 3 years ago, but I have kept the apartment because I was going to school. This December I graduate and he just received orders for N Carolina. I need to move with him because 1 i graduate and 2 I'm pregnant, but they say I cannot break my lease and my only option is to pay until someone else takes over my contract. The chances of that are slim. So I need to find where i can find the laws on Texas property, because if I don't know my stuff this apartment complex will take me for all I've got. Trust me. Is there any hope?

I currently have an '06 Isuzu Ascender that is in good condition. Kelly Blue Book values it at $16,550. I know I won't get that exact amount but I am hoping to get close to that as I can. I would like to get an '07 or '08 Toyota Camry LE or Honda Accord LX or EX. I don't have a lot of cash to put down right now - maybe $500. I have poor credit, although we bought a house a little over 7 months ago. So far, there have been 6 payments due and we have made every payment on time. Also, we have two cars - my husband's is in his name only and mine is in both of our names with him as the primary borrower. We have never went over 30 days late with those either. I think my credit score is still poor because I have a lot of medical bills on there and some that are still reporting. I tried to trade the SUV in at an Acura dealership about 5 months ago, but they turned me down because they said I am too upside down. Currently the 10-day payoff is $21.803 and the 20-day payoff is $21,909.

I am trying to enroll in a real estate school and I need about $25k. I know there are grants available for this specific purpose, but I dont know who to talk to or how to apply. Any suggestions about how to apply for these grants, or if there is any other way for me to allocate the funds very, very quickly?

When a job offer reads that "relocation is not offered" is that refering to paying for my trip to the area, or are they only considering local residents.

Citicards and GMAC just announced HUGE losses. What will they do to stay afloat? Does this mean it is a good time for applicants with less than desireable credit have a better chance when they apply?

The thing is I have no job, the income comes from my husband who does not have an ssn at the moment. And to make things worse I have very poor credit. Its at 548 I believe. I am the only one on the deed. With all of this in mind, is there any bank that would give me a loan at all....

People flick their noses at renters, yet in reality for most 'home owners' they never actually own the home. They merely pay interest most of their lives. Possibly by the time they are 90, they might own their home. But most people die before actually owning. What's up with that? At least with renting, a landlord fixes your stuff for free.

I'm talking most people here. I know there are exceptions.

I'm fed up with my boring old office job at work. I'm working in a telesales role at a newspaper and have been there for about a year. The people are nice the canteen is amzing but I just don't like it...at all!! I studied drama at university and want to be a stand up comic but somehow I've got stuck in a rubbish 9-5 desk job. I'm lost and I don't know what to I want to do something that fits with who I am (e.g fun outgoing silly and funny) But I have no clue how to start. I don't want to do something pointless, and I don't want to do something that pays really badly. Where should I start looking? Websites, Papers etc....I'd like to work with children maybe or animals or fish...but they're just examples....ANY RECCOMENDATIONS. Please please please don't write silly or pointless messages.

I work helping a blind guy who is attending college. A few times recently he has been late or not come in at all-and I'm often dubious of his excuses, though I haven't said anything yet. Although it is his learning that is affected, I find myself being annoyed by this-when you are all set to do a job helping somebody, its frustrating when they don't turn up.
But I don't want to fall out with someone I have to spend 6 hours a day with. How can I say how I feel about this tactfully?
