Generally, you don't.

Why is that important to you? Of all the things I could inquire about a house that is the last thing I would inquire about or even care about.

In answer to your question from my stand point I really don't know the answer to your question.

I suppose you could call the local police and find out if there were any homicides in this particular property, if they keep records of that sort of thing.

What ever the source to find out this information, I am sure it will not be a easy task.

I wish you luck in finding what you are seeking.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

You could check newspaper archives and 911 records, but in general, you probably won't find anything.

Most states do not require sellers disclosure of death in the home. I believe California does if it occurred within the last 3 years.

You can't always tell, especially if it is an older home. However, you could check the archives at your local newspaper. If there was something of note that happened there (like the death of a famous person) then it might have made the paper.

In some states, the seller may have to disclose this if known, at least if the death was the result of violence.

Another strategy - ask the neighbor(s) who've lived nearby the longest.

You are probably out of luck on this one, since there are no organized data bases of who died where and when. Your best shot is to find a long-standing neighbor and inquire of them.
