Let's say I made $5000 for only one month last year abroad, do I pay SS/medicare? Would I be considered self-employed?
Take another senario: I lived abroad for 350 days, went to school during the year and made only $5000 during the summer break abroad, do I pay SS/medicare? What Fed income tax forms do I use? The 1040, 2555, anything else?

If I buy an item over the phone using my credit card, what protection do I have if the seller deducts more money from my card than the agreed selling price, or if somebody who overheard me on the phone, tries to use my credit card details to buy items for himself or herself.

Take it for example:

Company A bought a car worth 50,000 $ on 1 January 2007 and used the straight line depreciation method: 20% of the cost. Six months into the year, Company A decided to sell the car and made a loss on this disposal. The accumulated depreciation was 5000$. Shall this amount be accounted for in the total depreciation charge of the financial year ended 31st December 2007?

I have been troubled by this doubt for a time. If someby could help me with it, I shall be obliged.

How much do you have taken out of your check for 401K?
Does the company you work for currently match that contribution? The company I work for will match up to 3% and then and then up to 5% they will contribute 1/2. I just have the 3% held out of my check every week. I'm 26. Should I have more taken out? What should I do?

I'm young and I don't know a lot about this. I figured since I won't be able to retire for about 50 more years that I will be good with the 3% for a while.....Please give me any info you can in lamens terms.

Hello

I am doing a course of advanced bookkeeping and was wondering anyone knew how to get the sales figure for the P/L

Arthur is a sole owner of an electrical spares shop. He keeps minimal records. You are asked to prepare his accounts for the year ending 31 march 2002. You are told that all receipts have been banked with the exception of £11,000 which he has retained for his own use.

His assets and liabilities at 31 march 2001/2002 were:

Bank
Year 2001: 1500
Year 2002: 2000
Debtors
Year 2001: 9100
Year 2002: 9900
Rent paid in advanced
Year 2001: 100
Year 2002: 200
Stock
Year 2001: 4400
Year 2002: 5300
Expenses unpaid wages
Year 2001: 350
Year 2002: 440
Heating
year 2001: 135
Year 2002: 145
Creditors
Year 2001: 5215
Year 2002: 6205
Vehicle
year 2001: 9000
year 2002: 9000
Provision for depreciation
Year 2001: 900
year 2002:
Capital
Year 2001: 17500
Year 2002:

1, the vehicle is to be depreciated using the straight line method at 10% per annum; new fittings purchased during the year are also to be depreciated at 10% per annum.
2, Arthur took £100 worth of goods from stock for his personal use.
3, payments made during the year included:

Purchases of electrical goods 34000
Rent/rates 3000
Light/heat 805
Motor expenses 1150
New fittings 750
Wages 2000
Bank Charges 105

Prepare a bank account/ trading profit and loss and balance sheet.

Can anyone tell me how I begin as you can see there are not much receipts coming in to the bank and how do I calculate my sales for the profit and loss account. There are a lot of things that are confusing me about this.

I am looking to become either an MRI Technician, or Ultrasound Technician.I have my AA(General Ed.) degree from my local community college in California, but my major was in "Business Administration". I also have no related job experience in this current field and I'm 25 yrs. old. I also like sports a lot, if that makes any difference.

1.) Do I need to go back to school for 2 more years and study Biology?

2.) How many years should it take before I can expect to be working as an actual MRI technician?

3.) Do I need a degree in Biology IN ADDITION to completing a program at an accredited institution, or is it just 2 years then I can become an MRI technician?

4.) What is the avg. starting salary? I know its around 40K or so, but is this what they start you at?

....Anything else you that you think I should know, please feel free to share.

But a job from now to April will be sufficient [im going to college full-time and graduating this year]. I just want to know if its almost a sure thing so I can put my 2 wks notice with my current employer . (The accerlated course starts last week in Nov).
