So if one takes the Income Tax Course and passes the class, does that guarantee employment with HR Block? I am aware its only for Tax Season (until April 15th). But a job from now to April will be sufficient [im going to college full-time and graduating this year]. I just want to know if its almost a sure thing so I can put my 2 wks notice with my current employer . (The accerlated course starts last week in Nov).

I am a New Hire Coordinhator with H&R Block, and no, it is not typically guaranteed employment. First, you have to pass the course with at least an 80% in order to be considered for employment. Then you will be interviewed by the District Manager, or someone s/he appoints. At that point, the DM decides whether or not to hire you, and you are given a schedule for Skills for Success (policy and procedures) training. Once you complete S4S, you will also have on-the-job training in an office.
In most areas, it is 'almost' a sure thing. I'm probably going to hire nearly everyone who passes this season, because we are short on staff. BUT, if someone seems to be unethical, or is not fit to work with the public for some reason, they will not be hired.
There is such a thing as a 'hire-and-train' course offered by Block. If that's what you're doing, then you are paid to take the class, and are therefore already employed. However, we do reserve the right to let someone go if they don't pass.
So, regardless of which kind of B3 class you're taking, accept help when you need it, keep in contact with your instructor and New Hire Coordinator, and let me know if there's something you need that they aren't getting done - I can contact people and sometimes make things happen, even in other areas. I have a great boss (DM) who helps with that kind of thing, even if it's four states away.

If you take the HR Block course you are guaranteed an interview. If you go online to sign up for a class and there are no classes in your area then call their district office in your area. At least one office is open year round but not everyday..Some districts, not all, have a pilot program this year where they are hiring people and giving them the class (paid time).

Keep your job. Because in a lot of areas of the country, first year preparers are release after peak season in February.

The HRB course is a very good basic course on tax prep. Employment is not guaranteed by any means. It will depend on how busy your area is. If they are short handed it's more likely you will be hired.

No.

During the class, you will take tests to see if you have learned the material--HRB reserves the right to offer positions to only the best students.... The course is tough.

The positions that are available tend to be parttime only.

No, it's not guaranteed. And even if you do get offered a job, it won't necessarily be as many hours as you want.

Pretty Much, my drunk of a sister took the course. Keep in mind she couldn't sit for more than 30 minutes without her bottle of 'water' (really rum or vodka in a water bottle). She passed. They hired her. She even drank at work. She even took peoples tax returns home and they didn't care. Maybe that is just how screwed up this area is, but anyway.
