I've only filed one federal return before, and this is my first time as a full -year out of college person. I am a little confused about whether I count Soc. Sec that has been withheld from my paycheck, and/or Medicare in the federal tax amount. I'd appreciate any help/advice you could give!

I have just reported someone for committing benefit fraud

She is only paying £20.00 per month towards council tax when really she should be paying at least £70.00 a month.

They said they will follow her, I told them what she looks like, where she lives, where she works etc

She is on 15k a year and a single mother... who get money from her partner that lives abroad

What could happen, prison?

The company's stock has dropped 41% this past year. Could this possibly be a prelude to the selling of the company or a bankruptcy reorganization?

I am looking to get a loan (£3000 - 4000) over a period of 3 years. I am in full time employment and I have never had a history of debt etc. Thing is ........ I have applied to a lot of companies who are preforming a lot of credit searches and, because this brings my credit rating down, I am unable to get anything. Can anyone help with lenders etc.
Thanx xxx

I just started at my job a month a go they are always saying something is wrong I wasn't trained properly and they know that. The thing is they call it constructive criticime *sorry for the spelling error*. SO I always say well I didn't know or if she told someone else I would tell her well you didn't tell me, sometimes I would get left with something someone else did I would tell her it was not me who did that but I will try to fix it and i am forever saying sorry. I really need this job it pays good and I have to walk to work I have even lost sleep over some stuff. Yesterday she pulled me aside and said I always talk back and cut her off and she don't care who did it, she told me just to say ok and fix it. my question is was I wrong to do this and Im just suppose to say ok and move on? also I have yet to hear that Im doing a good job. I work my a$$ off I really do I work at a daycare so Im costantly busy and I come there on my off time to fix the room up.

Last year I was able to claim married, 3 kids and a house, I think I had 5 exemptions and always got back about $1000. This year I am not married, the kids are not living with me, I pay child support and I own my own home. I have no idea what to claim on my W-4, so since last year I have claimed nothing and added $50 a paycheck. I am worried that I will have a tax bill that I can't handle so I essentially have had nothing withheld and am hoping for a good sized return? But I need a better understanding of what I should/can claim on my W-4. All suggestions welcome.

My furnance and hot water heater broke this month and I called maintenance to come check it out in the middle of the night and the mantainer just told me to turn off my gas and I was cold throughout the 38 degree night. The next day they replaced the thermocouple and I came back to a gas smelling apartment. I called maintenance back out and they said they didn't smell anything (I opened the windows to get the gas out, duh!) and then he tested for the leak by holding a lighter to all the gas lines! So I called the gas company out the next day and they found that my apartment's maintenance men hadn't tightened down all the joints when they put in the thermocouple and there was a leak. On top of that the gas company said that the leak probably caused my severe abdominal pain for those 2 days. Should my apartment offer me a discount off the rent for these mistake?

I read other similar questions, but am still not getting it. I know that NPV analyzes profitability of an investment. NPV compares the value of a dollar today and in the future. When the NPV of an investment is positive it should be accepted and when it’s negative it should be rejected because cash flows might also be negative. I know that IRR is the discount rate that makes the NPV of cash flow from an investment equal to zero. So I was thinking, one obvious difference would be that one analyzes profit and the other is a discount rate. I'm not sure how to further contrast the two.

What have I done? Ok, I won $500 for a costume contest. The money was to be added to my paycheck. A co-worker suggested I change my tax status to exempt. So... I did, under the assumption I would have no/less taxes taken out. I received my direct deposit today and it was $56. I only work 1 day a week, and my normal check ends up being closer to $85. So, I'm hoping that I'm receiving the $500 on a seprate check. ?? What do you think/know about exempt status?
