Basically its a socialist/communist concept that if every one could work willingly together they would all get an equal share of the profits.

There are no real advantages .. (other than meeting some-ones Politically Correct agenda)

Disadvantages are :-
1) In it's 'pure' form, only the workers are rewarded (i.e. there are no 'share holders')
This may sound like a 'good idea' but no real Business can even be set-up, let alone actually run, without a source of capital (where does the money to buy/build the factory come from ? how are all the up-front costs met ? how are raw materials purchased ? etc etc)

2) No account is made of 'human nature' .. in the real world, some people will be very enthusiastic hard workers, others less so .. and some people will be 'free loaders' ... in a co-op with 'equal shares', very soon most of the hard workers wake up to the fact that they are supporting the 'free-loaders' and decide they don't want to do that anymore .. and then the rot sets in ... no-one working = no profits to share out ..

3) It ignores the fact that everyone is NOT equal in either Education or Ability / Skill .. workers with specialist skills will soon discover they are 'in demand' and that they can expect "extra's" before they need to perform... this creates an environment of total corruption which makes criminal activity morally acceptable to the 'brightest and the best' of your society .... (see Soviet Union).
