i worked in many call centers when i was in school, i will tell you first hand. It is not the company that is rude, it's the employees. Theses places expect so much from the employee but do not pay all that well, sometimes if you have a angry customer screamin at you it will effect the way you talk to the next customer. You know when they put you on hold for a long time, well they probly talkin to the person beside them. Most people who work in a call center(that ive been at) dont really care about there job!

Because true customer service is a thing of the past. Society is in the computer age now. It's IM, E-mail, Text, Fax, Scan, Phone (press 1 or 2) etc. Businesses simply can not supply enough good service for the demand. Cost of living is too high. It's about staffing people who could not pass a social etiquette test if their lives depended on it. Anything to save a buck. Unfortunately content of character is no longer valued in the business world today.

It's the people in the jobs. They probably don't get paid that much, customer service is usually a non-skilled job, they probably get calls from rude people all day themselves and they see no incentive for being nice to you. Some people do their jobs well and some don't.
