Hi I work for benefits, the likely hood is that she will not go to prison, the normal procedure when someone is found guilty of fraud they will be invited in to an IUC (Interview Under Caution) here they will be given the opportunity to pay the money back, although they will incur an admin penalty which will be a percentage of the money they have claimed fraudulently on top of what they have to pay back. If they refuse the penalty then they will be prosecuted by magistrates court, or if they have fraudulently claimed more than £35,000 it will go to crown court and they could face a fine, a criminal record and either community service or a prison sentence

I very much doubt she will get prison, but then why should the taxpayers shell out even more money to keep her? I (unfortunatley) have to live on benefits for now, but I would never dream of benefit fraud as it is tantamount to theft. It is people like her who give the 'honest' benefit claimants the added stigma attached to their situation. With any luck she will get fined and be forced to repay what she stole from decent, hardworking taxpayers. It will be of some comfort to them to know that should she not pay it voluntarily, it will be taken from her wages.
Don't listen to those who call you a grass, benefit fraud IS a crime. Any one would report a burglary so why not this. Continue to stick up for what is right and decent!!!

In the present situation with the prison system full, its very unlikely that she would receive a prison sentence. They are even saying that can;'t send paedophiles to prison at the moment.
Its far more likely that she will be made to pay back the money, and may also get community service as well

attempt @trisha and angels solutions jointly and you virtually have it. Osbourne and something of the Tory MPs are becoming to be in spite of the electorate they think of, by utilising focused on the main susceptible and poorest in society. What they do no longer recognize is that it is going to come back lower back and bite them on the rear end as extra of them are becoming to be caught lower back attempting to paintings fiddles on the MPs costs and that i recommend that from the PM ideal the way via each and all the Tory MPs. one element for effective and is now proving to be the case. it rather is that Osbourne and his cronies have instructed some lies and made up some figures to enable them to %. up a speedy couple of greenbacks. it rather is why he's focused on the authentic disabled, previous, ill, and the undesirable. that's working for him to because of the fact the different Tory supporters like what he's asserting. situation is that people who play around the ease device are not being caught and the folk who want it maximum are those paying the fee for each and all the fraudsters. i think he has desperate he is going to paintings it like he does tax evasion. Step demanding on the little adult men and permit the super agencies and the banks to get off scot loose. do no longer all and sundry come on right here and say "Oh! he's hitting the banks with enormous taxes" he's not. they are rather merely paying 11% of what he claims he's taxing them on. they are doing that with loop holes he helped to construct into the tax device for them till now he levied those taxes. he's a charlatan and a spiv. that's how maximum criminals paintings and he's sweet at it.

Technically she could be sent to prison, but it is unlikely. More likely is that she could be cautioned and required to pay back any illegally acquired money.
Whatever, good for you and perhaps you could also try to spot those without Car Tax.
Lack of Car Tax can invalidate the insurance but it is more likely that those without Car Tax do not have insurance either.
If you spot a vehicle on a public road which is NOT DISPLAYING a valid tax disc, all you have to do is note the time, place, and details of the vehicle, and report these facts to DVLA. They have the power to crush the vehicle without delay.
Fewer cars on the road - environmentally sound, or what.

How do you know how much she pays in council tax? Have you been rooting through her bins?
Anyway, they'll look into it. If there is a fraud going on it will depend how much is involved, they may claw underpayments back from her, they may give her an "administrative caution", they may decide to take her to court. What happens in court depends on whether she pleads guilty, how much (again) is involved and lots of other circumstances. It may be a fine, it may be a fine plus community service, whatever. Prison is a very last resort.
And she may be entirely innocent . . .
However, if she is fiddling, good for you, benefits fraudsters cost each and every one of us a small fortune in taxes etc.

she could go to prison if the judge makes an 'example' of her. but not very likely as its not that extreem a case of fraud. she will definately get in trouble though. tax offences are a very serious matter.its a shame nothing happens when u report nuiscence neighbours.........
ignore the people insinuating u did the wrong thing. u r well in your rights. why should we work and pay taxes everyday for people to skank the system we pay so much into??!

Well done for reporting her.
I am all in favour of a benefit system providing a safety net for people who need it but those who abuse the system are stealing from us.
