After a long 2 year struggle, I finally can say I have no debt. Thank goodness.
Now I need to focus on step 2. But what IS step 2?

Saving for retirement, a downpayment on a house, a reliable car; or Life Insurance?

I've learned that my daughter's college fund should not go before any of these, so what's the right choice?

Someone told me that due to a very significant tax collection for the 06 year the US treasury department and the IRS have been instructed to refund 70% of the tax surplus to taxpayers before the next spring season. the average refund will be between $3000-6500 for married and $1500-3250 for single persons.

someone told me Bush said this during a radio address.
is this true?

I recently started a new job and the previous girl that had the job worked 40 hours a week. I manage to get all the work done in less than 20 hours. I find myself bored and looking for something else to do. I ask around the office and no one wants to let me help. I am not sure what to do. I don't want to work 40 hours, but sometimes I work as little as 8-10 hours a week. It is all based on my supervisor's schedule/workload - he gives me work and is only in the office 2 days a week. I try to pace myself, but I usually just get the work done fast. I notice other employees surf the internet during slow periods. I don't do this, when I am at work I just want to work. Any ideas?

The mortgage industry doesn't seem to have their heads in the sand about the current housing problems. However it seems that many realtors and sellers do (a house a block away that doesn't have a basement, has only a front yard filled with trees and is just two bedrooms is asking $225,000 but other homes a few blocks away with bigger yards are asking 50,000 less). And there are many houses that have been for sale over a year in this area. Are the realtors and sellers burying their heads in the sand in their asking prices? This is in Chicagoland and what once use to be an affordable area is no longer affordable for an average income.

It seems that realtors are blaming the mortgage industry but not looking into their own industry and unrealistic expectation for the average home buyer and the average home buyer's income.

Can I get kicked out my apartment if, while the managers are showing an apartment, I tell the "new tenants"---"Did they tell you about all the cars getting broken into, and how they don't fix things that you ask them to fix"?

Would that be grounds of getting kicked out? Isn't it a freedom of speech, me saying this?

Please let me know....

I thought one of the benefits of being deployed to Iraq was that your income wasn't taxed. But I've been looking at my husband's pay slips and while the state isn't taxing him... the federal government is taxing him. Is this right?
