If you move to a different state, you'd file state returns in both states if they both have state income tax, as a part-year resident, and for each state would show the income you had while a resident of that state.

If the question is that you lived in two different states for part of the year, the states with state income tax have tax return forms available for partial-year residents. It apportions your income based on how much time you were a resident.
