Maybe your balance is too low. Debit cards work off existing bank accounts of some type.

So when you run that debit card, the other source will actually over authorize the amount you need to pay, just to make sure you have enough funds.

So if the transaction is 20.00, sometimes the authorization is like 35.00.

Something similar to your situation happened to me, where I tried to rent a car, and I was told from the beginning that an actual credit card had to be used. My debit card had sufficient funds available. The car rental representative did not explain their policy to me, other than the fact that a credit card had to be used. Maybe Yahoo personals runs their business in the same way?

Maybe you have insufficient funds. This would be the only reason, because Yahoo cannot tell a Visa or Mastercard debit card from their credit cards just by their numbers.

Is it underwritten by a major credit card company, like Mastercard? If it is not, if it is a debit card from a particular bank (like Sterling, or independent bank), then many places likely will not take it. If it is backed by a major card, then maybe you just don't have the funds in your account at the moment to cover it.

If your Debit Card has the Mastercard or Visa logo on it, then there should never be a problem. Are you sure that you entered all of the information correctly? Check for typos.

ask your bank to make that debit card into a Visa or M\C debit card,,, then it will work.

Is it a debit card or just an ATM card? Go out and put yourself out there beyond your computer--- it is cheaper and more effective anyway!

If your debit card has a low balance, then they will deny it. If you can't afford to put more in, then you can't afford a credit card either.

Because sometimes that's the way the cookie crumbles I'm afraid. Try another card.
