im buying a house cheap that needs alot off work doing to it iv just found out that next doors building work ie extension is causing alot off damp in my house its gon unchallenged for a few years as they were old people living here ,im not going to get the house any cheaper ,wats the proceeder in regards of next doors and there building works

i still want to buy as its a business venture and i got cheap i will sell once modernised

I'm afraid you pay for what you get, and the buyer must beware. if your neighbours extension is causing damp, perhaps he also suffers from damp and would pay for or at least contribute towards the expense of curing the problem. (going through solicitors, legal action, threats of any kind etc could cost you time and thousands of pounds). failing the above assist your neighbour in repairing the fault.

Well, get an engineer's report. It would be unusual for the works next door to cause the rising damp. You have other issues that need to be addressed. Get an expert opinion based upon an on-site inspection.

I would venture to guess that the insulation and vapor barrier is non-existent. Moisture in air of your building will collect only on colder surfaces, which means that wall is too cold and/or your air is extremely moisture laden. You need to have an assessment done!

Get a damp and timber report done asap ...

The damp could be caused by them or your walls
