We will be buying a mobile home in iowa, cedar rapids vicinity in the summer of next year. Once we sell the house we currently own, pay off our van and pay the realtor we will be left with 27-42,000 depending on what our home goes for(based on comps selling prices) we expect it to be in the upper range as the lower priced ones all needed alot of work. With this we can buy a really nice one or we can buy say a 15,000 16x80 with 3 beds and replace carpeting, and still have plenty to put in savings that we could live on partially while we go to college and not work as many hours per week, we have three small children and are worried we will miss alot if we work and go to school to the extent we would otherwise need to, lot rent is 270 a month and includes water currently just our taxes and insurance and water run 260 a month and our interest is 350 or so, thus we would save alot but would we be better off with the newer double wide fancy one in 5 years for resale?

I'm selling a sofa on craigslist and need some advice on this response:

"I got a correspondence from my financial agent that he has sent you
the check. The amount on the check is a little higher than the normal
amount, this is so because after the check clears your bank and you
deduct
your money, the difference would be sent to my freight forwarder who
will
also come for the pick up of the item.
Do let me know when you receive the check, also let me know if you
have
deposited it and when bank says you should come for the funds. You can
contact the freight company via :-

Waiting to hear back from you.
Thanks for your services..

I have lived in an apartment building for 8 years. Instead of normal carpet, my apartment had that thin commercial carpet. My cat became a carpet terrorist on the stairs thinking it was a scratching post. Plus I had a pull that my vacuum ate up one day and left a line in the carpet with a missing thread in the living room. There is also a stain that I could not get out oustide the kitchen. But these happened over 8 years which I think is reasonable.

As I said, I haved there 8 years. The carpet was not new when I moved in. It was atleast 1-2 years old. I understand it got ruined and will need to be replaced, but I don't think that I should be responsible for giving the landlord new carpet. Even if it didn't have these problems, the carpet would stil be 9+ years old. If I am charged, shouldn't it atleast be a depreciated rate? Would this be something I could bring to small claims if I am charged the full replacement cost?

My buddy is currently trying to sell his house and he's stuck with a horrible Real Estate Agent. He's trying to think of any way to get out of his contract with the Real Estate Agent, rather then be stuck another 2 months with them. He noticed a mistake made on the contractual paperwork. The Real Estate Agent signed his name in the 'date' field and there is no signature in the 'signature' field. Is that enough for him to contest the validity of the contract and give him a shot at getting out of the contract?

If banks are having trouble finding money to loan out, shouldn't they be offering higher interest rates on their savings accounts to attract more money? Instead, interest rates have gone down recently. Does the Fed's rate cut overwhelm any extra money they might have gotten from savings accounts?

Here's the skinny: I'm 25. I made good grades in school and went to college for a time before I dropped out. I have a relatively successful career in Marketing, but it isn't exactly what I pictured myself doing for the rest of my life. I have an aptitude for logic and details as well as public speech and communication in general.

I am not currently enrolled in college. But, here we go. I've always been interested in law.. but never really -really- considered it as a career path before. However, I'm getting older.. have a family.. and am, to a certain degree, unfulfilled by my current career path. Also, I'd like to make more money. Though, by the time I actually graduated law school, my salary would probably be comparable to a recent law graduate.. probably a bit more.

So, what are the chances of me going back to school and making it? Would it take me more than 7 years, could I do it in less? Is there a such thing as a"happy" lawyer? Anyone go to law school "later" in life?

Or do you only have to pay taxes on what you convert to cash? For example, say someone has $5,000 in their e-gold account and uses only $1,000 of it on a debit card. Do they pay taxes on the $5,000 or the $1,000?

Someone at my work told me that 401K is guaranteed money but I always thought that it really depended on how well your investements were doing that determined your pay out at retirement. I told him that you are not guaranteed anything and you could actually loose money with a 401k if the market does very bad. This is true right, I think the misconception people have is that 401k is guaranteed money. I am not against it and I invest as much as I possibly can in it, but I wanted to make I was telling him the right thing. to me, 401K are more like potential supplments for retirement. Any help would be appreciated regarding 401K. Thank You

My sole income is my retirement of $1800/month in S/S, The IRS is taking out $1100/month leaving me $700 net per month for rent, utilities, etc. I don't own a car or house and have no tangible assets. I have been relying on my S/S check and it's getting very difficult to live. Isn't there a maximum limit they can take out per month. They've been taking the $1100/month for well over a year and I'm starting to hurt. Do I have any choices or options? Thanks.

I am going to Japan next summer, and will be needing extra cash.
Im going to bring my credit card with 1k on it for expenses. But I also want another credit card with another at least 1k on it for more expenses and food.

I see a lot that say 0% APR for first 6 months (on purchases and transfers etc)
Is that interest? does that mean that if I buy something today, it wont charge me interest until 6 months pass?

Does that also mean. that if i get the card today. but i dont make any purchases on it until June 2008(9 months) will the 0% apr still count? does it start from when i get it..or from my first purchase?

I was told that its illegal for section 8 tenants to pay out of their pocket for the difference in house rent . For Example: if the rent is 2500 and the Hud pays 1800, then the tenant cant pay 700. Is this true? Also, does this mean, if a landlord does accept the delta payment, he could potentially be sued?

Thanks.

Okay...so I pay a little bit more then the minimum fee every month and my balance still never seems to go down!!!! Last month I paid $100 and my balance only went down about $30! All the rest went to finance charges. I'm living pay check to pay check and I can't afford to pay much more than that. This card is killing me! I asked the company (WaMu...previously Providian) to lower it. But they said no. I've gotten denied for other "blance transfer" offers I see online. But my credit is decent (about 670). I owe about $3500 on it and I've been stuck at that amout for months. And I don't even use the card anymore.

Does anyone know of any good card i can do a balance transfer on? Or any program for smaller debt relief? I feel so hopeless.
