I am 30 years old. I am considering going to school to be a nurse. At what age would I be finished with my studies if I went to nursing school? Also are there a lot of male nurses? Not that it matters but the two things I am considering right now is either being a Toronto police officer or go into nursing.

There aren't a ton of male nurses, but there are definitely more than there were 20 or even 10 years ago. You wouldn't be alone. In my graduating class a few years ago, we had quite a few guys, I think there were about 10-15 out of a class of 120 - doesn't sound like a lot, but it's probably more than average.

As for when you graduate, that depends on what kind of program you go into.

A 2 year associates degree in nursing usually takes about 3 years when you factor in all the pre requisites you need to take. A BSN program is a 4 year program - if you attend full-time, otherwise more like 5-6.

But you're not too old - you'll be 35 in a few years whether you're a nurse or not. But you need to decide. Do some more research on what the job entails and what kinds of specialty areas you might like to work in (seems to me that a lot of men like working in the ER, OR, or ICU settings). You have to be a really caring, empathetic, non-judgmental kind of person to be a nurse in order to give your patients the best care. Sometimes it's a messy, stressful job, but it can also be very rewarding and fulfilling.

There are alot of male nurses. I am assuming you must be in Canada, and I don't know the requirements there. In the states, it is usually 12-18 months for an LPN, and up to 2 years or more for an RN, depending on if you are specializing in something. I would safely say by age 34, if not sooner. Good luck. Contact a nursing school to find out exactly what their requirements are.

Nursing school takes about 4 years, full time. There are more female nurses than there is male, but who cares? Nurses are in such short supply now you can pretty much set your own pay and hours. There are several hospitals in this area where the nurses bid on the shifts, whoever puts in the best bid works the shift.

You can get your LPN degree in one year or an RN in two. If you go for a B.S. degree, that will take another two year. That's in the states I don't know if Canada is different.I got my license about 13 years ago, there were 30 some students, four were men.

Your milk is full of white blood cells, that evidently keep the nipples germ loose sufficient to be risk-free on your toddler. My lactation representative informed me to no longer wash my nipples previously or after nursing. exceedingly by no potential with cleansing soap, which has a tendency to dry dermis. I completely nursed for the 1st 14 months and my son grow to be only as healthful as he must be! Your toddler would be only nice.
