I am considering renting an apartment for my long weekend in New York City. I found a rental that looks pretty nice and it's located in Little Italy? What type of area is that? How safe is it? Is it close to all the attractions?

Hi, I've been researching places to live in North Carolina. Our family is from south Florida, we want a place near the Western mountains, but not IN them. We also want to be near Charlotte. I'm thinking about driving from Reno, Nv to Santa Cruz and i'm looking for a good place to stay that is resonably priced. I will also be traveling with my son, so something that isn't too far from the Boardwalk. Also how far is San Jose Airport from Santa Cruz?
I'd appreciate any hotel/motel suggestions.
