Hi, I've been researching places to live in North Carolina. Our family is from south Florida, we want a place near the Western mountains, but not IN them. We also want to be near Charlotte. Is Concord a good 'family' town? Are there still some mountains nearby (within 2 hours or so). Anyone live there or been there before?

I live in charlotte, so I know the area, concord is a pretty good town, starting to get congested though, the NC mountains are only about 1.5-2 hours away, and the uwharrie mountains and morrow mountain park are within an hour from concord. There are a number of other smaller towns outside of charlotte and the mountains are within two hours of all of them. And the beach is only about three hours away if you want to go there too.
