i've been doing lots of research about new york city and i realize its pretty damn expensive, but im determined to make it work. i know i can shell out $1000 a month (ill be living w/ 1 other person, so $500 each). i have my heart set on Manhattan but i realize its probaly going to be out of my reach. im a little overwhelmed at all the other areas to choose from..bronx, queens etc.. ive heard alot about inwood, wash. heights but dont know too much about them. any suggestions on a nice area, near or in manhattan would be great. *

1. Is it best to book online, thru a website such as orbitz.com (or something similar)
2. Book it through the hotel/motel's website?
3. Call the place directly
4. How far in advance should I book it?

i've heard unused and dated 1996 or later... but is it easier to exchange $100's, $50's, $20's.... i have heard travellers checks can be difficult... i'll be in bogor...pop. =750,000. any thoughts on this???
