He is a great pitcher, but I don't think the yankees should waist their future on trading for Johan and then signing him to a mega-bucks extension. I'd rather have Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, and Ian Kenndey pitching in their primes with the yankees (3-5 years) than have just Johan putting up good numbers every year for the next 5 years.

In this question, I want you to factor in that Johan has pitched in Minnesota all his career. The yankees have tried to buy world championships in the past when they traded for Javier Vasquez in 2004. However, he was inconsistent in the second half. The yankees tried to right those problems by trading for Randy Johnson a couple years back but he couldn't get it done in the postseason. When the Mets first signed Tom Glavine, he struggled his first two years in the big apple before finally coming around.

Yankees fans: Evaluate this question based on risk vs. reward

I mean come on people you are so naive--

Look to the past when we brought in all these so called great pitchers

Randy Johnson Carl Pavano Kevin Brown Javier Vazquez...

The list goes on they had great years before they came to NY and then they got rocked plain and simple

I hope you guys reconsider this-- look what we did in the 90's kept young talent and won championships Isn't that what baseball is all about?

I will be very disappointed in the Yankees if they give up a great future to get another so called "great" pitcher and then he gets rocked

They are going to get Santana who is one of the best pitchers out there.

I think that Melky isn't good i know he can play defense but he will never hit lots of homeruns he may only hit 7 the whole season I think the Yankees think too highly of Melky right?

Kennedy is good as is Hughes but you get Johan Santana in return who can win lots of games.

Will Twins fans care anymore if Santana is traded? Him and Hunter are basically the reason why people even mentions Minnesota. Will it hurt their ticket sales? If he is traded, Santana certainyl is worth more than some top prospects from the Yankees. It goes to show that if the organization does not have any loyalty to you, then you should leave. They are making a mistake by trading him because along with Liriano next season, they will be almost unstoppable as far as pitching goes. I say it's time to sell the team to someone who has deeper pockets.

Yes Yankee fans, this is how stupid you sound with your trade proposals.
