I've found Christy Mathewson to be interesting. Mostly because he was a gentleman and a scholar in a time when baseball players were redneck cut-throats. He was also a dominant force on the mound (think Greg Maddux).
But if I were you I'd just d oa report on whoever I could get the most information on from books or whatever sources you'll be using. That's how you do reports - the ones that are easist to write, not always the most interesting.

Well you have alot of model Americans in baseball. You also have you fair share of tradgic endings, it all depends on wat kinda report u want. Positive, try Lou Gehrig, national hero had to find anything wrong with him.
If you want a little controversy try John Clarkson, who was suspected of murder.
But good ole' hard work and passion, i'd go with Nolan Ryan, the ageless wonder. He didnt mind wen his emotions took over

Stan Musial of the Saint Louis Cardinals. In an era where everyone wants to argue who is the best hitter, Musial has one interesting statistic connected to his hitting which might end the argument. In totaling up his career hits, he hit exactly half of them in home games and half of them on the road.

You could do Lou Gehrig. He was also the youngest player to be elected to the Hall of Fame (at least at that time).

Satchel Paige, hands down. Great career (although largely undocumented, as he was in the ***** Leagues), and very quirky. Plus, he played for the Indians when he did make it to MLB!

Maybe John Clarkson, who is rumored to have killed a man during his career. If nothing else, he's not necessarily a model citizen who was elected nonetheless.
