As an Angel fan Im kind of worried cause all I hear is that the Angels are ther front runners in getting Cabrera but I think that if its going to happen it should of happen already. Does anyone have an idea why the Angels or any other team hasnt been able to aquire Cabrera yet?

It isn't a sure thing. The latest news is that the Angels are balking at the players the Marlins wan tin return. But since the Angels, with the new players, are overlaoded at pitching and outfield, it is likely they will be making some deal, and probably for Cabrera.

See this Yahoo article about how things reportedly stand: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Angels-pursuit-of-Cabrera-hits-a-snag;_ylt=AoYmOsSqvJNdA8Krj6hqLhkP0bYF?urn=mlb,55208

The News of Santana being shopped around has probably taken the focus away from Cabrera.

A team only has so many prospects and can't make both deals. Say Yankees get Santana then look for Angels to consider the Cabrera trade again!

I'm not sure I would want to mess with that Angels line-up too much! Vlad isn't going to be better with guys around him! He is the freest swinger in the league bar none! The guy swings at stuff that is 2inches off the ground and 5 inches off the plate! Sad thing is in the regular season he gets rewarded with some crazy homeruns! You just don't get to do that in the playoffs!

This is the latest update according to Yahoo Sports:

"The Los Angeles Angels continue to pursue power-hitting third baseman Miguel Cabrera, but trade talks with the Florida Marlins appear to have hit a snag over the combination of players the Marlins are seeking for the 24-year-old slugger according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Angels, according to baseball sources, are willing to part with just about any player who has been mentioned in trade rumors, second baseman Howie Kendrick, catcher Jeff Mathis, pitchers Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders or Nick Adenhart, outfielder Reggie Willits and perhaps top infield prospect Brandon Wood.

But if the Angels are going to trade two young pitchers to the Marlins, they are reluctant to include Kendrick and Mathis in a package for Cabrera, who has averaged 31 home runs and 115 runs batted in for the last four seasons."

I read a lot of hot stove/ fantasy baseball sites and I've heard everything from the Angels don't want to part with Nick Adenhart to the Angels don't want to part with Howie Kendrick. Having seen both of them play in Arkansas, I'd be with the Angels on that one - both those guys are keepers. I might trade them for Johan Santana, but not Cabrera.

I also read a humorous report that said the Angels weren't willing to part with Jeff MAthis. That's laughable cause he's obviously not the hitter they thought he was - very good defense though.

It takes awhile to get a deal done plus i think the Marlins want a lot in return for Cabrera which they could be deciding on what players they want

I think the angels will wind up with him but time isn't too important right now

Everybody is gunning for him, he could be the next ARod. Almost every team in baseball is offering the world for him, so they are in no rush to make a deal, a better one might be offered in ten minutes. He is getting more interest than Santana

Last rumor I heard was that they will probably make the deal at the Winter GM Meeting next week.

The Marlins are asking for a lot so that might be the delay.
