I am doing a report on how the HOF voting process should be changed. When thinking of a solution, I wanted to hear what everyone's ideas were. So...

1. What do you think are the biggest injustices that have happened with the baseball HOF voting process?

2. How would you change the selection process?

The last poster seems to think I am incorrect. However I was 18 years old and do not recall one guy as the everyday CF. Anyways, please let me know. Because this nuthead seems to think Darren Lewis played 135 games in CF, when his own reference site states he only played 88 in CF, the others in RF and a couple of DH starts. Somebody else (Damon Buford) had to play the other games, correct?

IF. . and I state IF Barry Bonds has used steroids. . . how is he different then almost every other athlete out there from high school. . to college. . .to the pros. . . as well as most of your body builders and make believe wrestlers? I could take steroids for ten years but I sure as hell couldn't hit a baseball like he has. What about Roger Clemons? How is he still pitching at his age? Don't forget folks. . . steroids are not just used to bulk up. . . they are even more important in recovery from injury and workouts. Truth is you CAN NOT compare any of today's athletes with those of past generations. Having video scouting of all of your competition. . . . improved nutritional and workout information. . . and career saving surgeries these days has probably had a lot more to do with the more impressive numbers many athletes post these days. Bonds has been villified by the press because he doesn't kiss their butts and offer opinions on everything. . . he just plays baseball.

We smiled at corked bats, and grinned about spitballs, greaseballs, nails in pitchers belts, stealing signs, why is steroids any different? And, in the steroid era, who is to say who did and who did not use them? And , if it comes to pass that a great many used them, do we wipe out the stats for the past ten, twelve years altogether?

Juan Pierre is great when it comes to stealing bases, but does his talent at bat and at stealing make up for his weak arm and series mindless mess ups recently at center?

I just got this really cool wind breaker jacket but it has the # 4 on the sleeve ( I know it's probably a couple of years old anyway). The tag reads: Genuine Merchandise...by Logo Athletic. I'm just curious... Can anybody tell me who's # this is?

When did he start taking steroids? If you say that he started because he was upset with Sosa and MacGwire getting all the press, that would put him starting steroids in 1999. Look at his stats up to that point, average them out over the next 8 years , and you still have one of the best ever, if not the best.

Ok, yes he will break Hank Aaron's home run record this year. It's unfortunate, since Hank is one of the games greatest home run hitters, but why is it that Bonds is classed as a great baseball player? Sammy Sosa hit 600 home runs, sports radio wasn't interested due to steroids. Yes that milestone should have an asterix, but then they said you look at great players, and bonds was clumped with Aaron and Ruth. Yes Bonds hits homers, but his body mass also grew massively from his early years in Pittsburgh. Bonds, like Sosa was drafted as a good hitter, but ultimately a speedy outfielder with decent power. Not until the performance enhancing scandals did these guys really start to jack bombs. Bonds' fielding has fallen even worse every year starting back about 6 or 7 yrs, and he doesn't have a good career average. I'm confused as to why this guy even is considered an all time great. I think his and any record broken buy a steroid suspect should have an asterix.

Hal Newhouser won back-to-back MVPs as a PITCHER ('44 & '45) and had more than a few darn good seasons, but no one seems to remember him. Granted, those were slim years for players, but, still, for a PITCHER to win them! He had 275 SOs one year. He was pretty great. Hall of famer, but no one mentions him much.

I heard on ESPN that someone had suggested that the World Series should be extended to a best five-of-nine series, and that Bud Selig didn't seem to rule it out. Wouldn't that be the worst idea EVER?

I've always felt it's totally unprofessional for broadcasters to openly root for one team over the other. Just give me facts, stats and analysis. Leave the rah-rah crap for the sports bar. I usually don't even watch local broadcasts of games anymore. Most of the games I watch now are on ESPN or Fox because the announcers are neutral, or at least try to be.
