I heard on ESPN that someone had suggested that the World Series should be extended to a best five-of-nine series, and that Bud Selig didn't seem to rule it out. Wouldn't that be the worst idea EVER?

NO. And it was Scott Boras. He is an idiot and should just stick to being an Agent. And Selig is an idiot as well and I wouldn't be surprised if he gave this idiotic idea a lot of thought.

Yea I heard that. Best 5 out of 9 with the first two games of the series being played on neutreal ground. Awful idea. That would extened the season into mid November. And who in Chicago(just an example)is going to care about the Indians playing the Dodgers? Awful idea, if Selig makes this happen I will personally write a letter to him.

A best 5 of 9 was the way back in the early1900's. Didn't last but a few years. But the fact that Scott Boras brought it up and good ol' Bud Selig hasn't written it off... just somehow doesn't surprise me. Take it up to Christmas, why not!
Without going into great detail the grand old game has been butchered up enough the last 30 years. One more won't surprise me.

Actually there were a couple best of 9 World Series including the infamous 1919 WS of Shoeless Joe Jackson fame
The worst idea ? The entire playoff system;
MLB doesn't need it .After playing a 162 games and giving each team many opportunities to prove their worth a true champion will emerge to play another true champion and from that a true champion will be crowned
The playoff system throws all that out the window and rewards mediocrity and mediocrity should never ever be rewarded.

Better to make ALL the series 7 games instead. 7 is pretty much the settled on number of games that satifies the question of which team is better. The first round, however, is 5 games, which is perhaps why so many wild card teams get through to the World Series. 5 games is not a lot better than one, really. The LCS used to be 5 games and the fans AND players (one of the few things they seem to agree on!!) thought it was bad. 7 games for them all, including the World Series.

To change the format of the World Series from best of seven to best of nine would be a sacrilege! You do not mess with something that has worked throughout history. It would not only change format, but also strategy, statistics, records, and just about everything else. Would definitely be one of the worst decisions ever in baseball history if it were changed.

actually it used to be the best out of 9. The players agent Scott Boras has been talking about it with the first two games would be played at a neutral site.

No, the World Series does not need to be extended. It is fine the way it is. In fact, they should get rid of some regular season games; maybe go from 162 to 150.

No. The 7 game series is good enough. They don't need to extend it.

It would be a bad idea. People already don't like the long seasons. I think it's a big part of why the NBA & MLB get less ratings than the NFL.
