If they are as good as/better than the men who are on the team than yes. Unfortunately baseball is not encouraged among girls and they tend to be smaller and less muscular than men. I'm sure there would be the issue of them using the same clubhouse, so I would assume people would not welcome them at first, and breaking the sex line would be like breaking the color line. Personnally I do no think it will ever happen (yes I am challenging you to become the first girl) and what is most likely is that a professional women's baseball league will form. THere is no law that prohibits women from participating in any professional sport, although there are laws that prevent men from participating in women's sports, but that is another subject. So good luck with your dream, if you succeed you will have proven me and probably many others wrong.

Every major league position requires that you be able to throw a baseball like a cannon. It's not just marjor league pitchers who have incredibly strong arms. I am sure some women can be found who are fast enough, and have fast enough reflexes, and maybe who can even hit for average.
But it would be few and far between women who can throw a baseball 90 to 200 feet on a bullet's trajectory, which is required in all nine positions.

Yes. There is no restriction against them and some have been in the minor leagues. Of course, the first will have barriers to cross as did Jackie Robinson. BUT -- if a major American sport were to have women, it would be baseball -- after basketball, maybe.

Many of the previous answers are from the viewpoint of personal opinion. However, to answer your question in the manner you intended it, that being from a "rules" point of view, it is a clear yes. The official rules of major league baseball do not prohibit anyone from being a member of a team.

I seriously doubt it. As much as I would love to see women play in MLB, it's just not going to happen. There have been cases of women in minor leagues though. Now believe me, women can match up mens' stats in size, strength, w/e. (Have you ever really heard of a rule saying they couldn't? Maybe men have more muscle mass or something, but they could match up if they seriously tried hard.Maybe.) But it'd be a huge problem. The first thing that comes to mind is locker rooms. Now I'm pretty sure that no self respecting woman would change and shower in front of an entire teamsworth of men. And I'm sure no man wants to be seen doing personal things in the same room as a woman (at least, not married men.) (FYI, I'm not trying to sound like a sicko here. Just trying to prove my point.) I'm pretty sure every MLB stadium in the country isn't willing to add a women's locker room. The next thing that comes to mind is money. There are PLENTY of pigheaded male chauvanists that belittle a woman's abilities and doubt her. Sadly, many of these men are fans of baseball. (I'm not saying that all male baseball fans are like this. In fact, I know many men who'd love to see women in MLB. But there are those who don't want that kind of thing.) It's most likely that these fans would stop watching baseball if women went into MLB. Less fans=Less money=EXTREMELY BAD. Baseball is both a business and a sport. Then, is appearance. A lot of teams require a dress code. (Like Joe Torre requires the Yankees to have very short hair and clean shaven face.) Most women are very touchy about their physical appearances. She'd have to be willing to cut her sacred locks. (To me, my hair is EXTREMLY important.) The clean shaven face shouldn't be much of an issue. Of course, the media would have a flipping field day when a woman is accepted into MLB. They'd be printing crazy untrue stories and cause bad publicity. The woman would have to be really strong-willed to put up with that kinda crap. She'd also have to put up with haters that'd like try to kill her for "ruining the sport of baseball." Just like Jackie Robinson when he broke the color barrier in '47. Lastly, is personal stuff. This woman would have to be able to play anytime, even when "that time of month" rolls around. And as all women can imagine, it''d be HARD. Also, as (most) people know, women give birth to the babies. As in, they carry a life/lives inside of them for nine months. I dont' know about you, but I'd be in bed the entire nine months, not playing baseball. So this woman would either have to be married with kids (and not want to have more) married without kids, forever, or just plain old childless for her entire life. If she gets herself pregnant, she won't be able to play.
Basically, all in all, no woman has been MLB before. A few in the minors awhile ago, and one drafted. (But she never made it to MLB.)
There is no rule, written or unwritten, that says a woman can't play in MLB. The only thing that can stop her are boundaries, almost impossible to overcome. Almost.
Hope I could help!
Sorry for the long answer. lol.

MLB has no officially disclosed restriction against it, though it didn't for black players either -- it was an unwritten "gentlemen's agreement".
I don't expect to see a woman player in my lifetime, but would be happy to be wrong about this.
