I'm a lifelong, diehard Yankees fan (from New York...I'm the real deal) and, ****, I want Johan on my team. So would the Twins accept a deal that included Hughes, Johnny Damon, Alberto Gonzalez, and another prospect?

Because they do not want the bloated contract of an aging outfileder with no arm like damon, they want young cheap talent.

The Twins would be only move Santana because they can't afford him, so receiving a $13m per year player like Damon wouldn't make sense. Even if the Yankees were to pay the majority of his contract, he'd only be under contract for two years.

I think Hughes would be a good inclusion, but I believe the second prospect would have to be better than Gonzalez, who's already 24 and hasn't made more than a cameo in the bigs. I think they'd need to look at dealing another top guy, and a young player like a Cabrera. It might seem like a lot to give up, but the return could be huge.

I think, as the Yankees... You'd have to pony up a lot! im talking 1 major league ready player, 2 top prospects and 1 lower tier prospect... If I'm Bill Smith (Twins GM) I'm asking for Cano, Hughes, one of Humberto Sanchez/Ian Kennedy and Jose Tabata

You're trading away a guy who will contend for Cy Young year in and year out, gets strikeouts, knows how to pitch with men on base, can pitch effectively against left handers AND right handers, can be a big game pitcher. Knows the american league, is a leader in and out of the clubhouse, doesnt get into trouble.. all the attributes that make up a number one pitcher.

I think as Twins GM, I'd add in a top prospect with Santana. If that trade works, I'd peddle away Kennedy or Sanchez in an attempt to pry Coco Crisp away from Boston or David Dejesus from the Royals.

Im a diehard fan to. Ehh i doubt they would go for that. Melky needs to be included. I heard on WFAN the twins want either
Joba, Hughes or Kennedy along with Melky and a prospect. So my guess is if thats true they would give Kennedy, Melky and somone else whos good from the minors. I dont want to give up Melky. He has such a good arm. Hughes was very impressive in that playoff game ( Game 3) and Joba you cant trade. So Kennedy i would give. I would just hate to see Melky go.

forget the yankees. trade him to the dodgers. we havent done anything since the joe torre signing. pull the trigger ned colleti and trade Clayton Kershaw and Andre Eithier or Matt Kemp. If im minnesota id be crazy not to take two of those three players. trust me twin fans. these three players are the real deal for the future

yes, absolutely. you see what the Twins want to do is trade a guy in an effort to avoid paying a large contract by aquiring a guy with an even larger contract. seriously, what the hell is wrong with yankee fans. i feel like im taking crazy pills over here. you want to know what its going to cost to get the best pitcher in MLB? Here you go:

Chamberlain
Huges
Cabrera or Cano

Absolutely no less than this will do. The red sox will get involved with thier prospects just to drive the price up on the yankees so if they want him this is what it will cost.

If you were a true Yankee fan you would see what happens to players like big name pitchers once they get to New York

We should keep young talent just like we did in the 90's if we want to win

Its plain and simple history repeats itself

Hopefully Santana will remain a twin.
if not hope he goes to a classy place

Twins have quality players with quality hearts
if there is a trade, let's get someone with a good heart....
as j...a... we don't need.
