How dare he make an announcement in the middle of A-Rod's grandstand play during the world series. He couldn't even wait until the parade was over. Is this just another example of Curt being Curt? (One of the all time self promoters)!

This is a young player who is by far one of the best center fielders in the game....If the Yankees want to keep the team young this is a perfect player to go after in the free agency market..

Ricky Henderson is of course the best base runner and leadoff hitter of all time. I doubt anyone will ever come close to breaking Henderson’s stolen base record but the first time I saw Ellsbury beat out was looked to be a routine ground ball I couldn’t help but think of Ricky.

don't see him making it for at least 3 or 4 tries. Many other players need to get in first, like Goose, Bert, Andre Dawson, Jim Rice, Ron Santo, just to name a few. In 23 seasons from 1979-2002, Raines had, 2,605 hits, 1,571 runs, 430 DB's, 113 3B's (wow), 170 HR, 980 RBI's, 808 SB (wow), 1,330 BB, and .294 BA (wow). Also played on 2 championship yankee teams, 96 and 98. 7 time all star, 1 batting title.

I say yes, what do you say?

It would just be the Cubs luck that they let him go, he moves past the shoulder issues and becomes a Cy Young winner. I like the fact they are not depending on him anymore but should they let him go?

Just curious seeing how the Red Sox did it from a 3-1 deficit. I wondered if any team ever came back from 3-0?

They stand awfully close to the batter, so it seems logical it would happen fairly often... That would be funny to see. Especially the umpire laid out on the field.

not in the Hall of Fame. Both should be, and I will state my case, starting with the late-great Roger Maris. Maris played in 12 seasons from 1957-1968. He had 1,325 hits, 195 DB, 42 3B, 275 HR, 851 RBI's, .260 BA, .345 OBP and a nice slugging % of .476. Maris won the AL MVP in 1960 and 1961. Roger was a 4 time all-star and one time gold glove winner and broke Babe Ruth's HR record with 61 in 1961. Roger had a relatively short but productive career and retired at the age of 34. I make the case for Maris to be inducted because not only did he break the coveted HR record, but he had a pretty solid career for the amount of time that he played. Also, I have to use the Phil Rizzuto analogy, because Phil was elected to the HOF in 1994, and his lifetime stats were, 13 seasons - 1,588 hits, .273 BA and one MVP.

Roger had 25 or more HR's 5 seasons, which was a lot for those days, and over 100 RBI's 3 times, with 142 RBI's in 1961, which was a ton for those days, non juiced era.

After attempting to steal the spotlight from a team (Boston) that played together as such in another classic world series, Alex Rodriguez decided he is worth much more than the team he played for, and opted to seek more money than a human being possibly needs to make sure he can escape from reality-that being that he is a selfish, arrogant waste of talent who will never wear a champion's ring. I have heard he will make $146,000 a day when the unfortunate team that does sign him finally buys into the sucker punch that has been Alex's career. Isn't a soldier worth much more though? I for one hope he is boycotted this year, since he obviously has no regard for character or appreciation for the team he had the best chance to win with. I being a Red Sox fan hope beyond all else that ownership keeps loyalty alive with a resigning of the best team player in the game-Mike Lowell, and tells A Rod and his braggart agent to shove it. We won it all without him-we don't need him or want him.

If you found yourself in an elevator for 3 minutes with your favorite CURRENT player, what would you say to them?

Gush like a schoolgirl? Rip on them for their lackluster plays? Recite their entire background? Babble incoherently???
