That actually happened to me one time when I was a kid. I was standing in the will call line waiting for my turn to pick up my tickets for the A's/Yankees game in Oakland(Rickey was a Yank at the time) and Rickey Henderson comes running down this path that I guess lead up to the locker room in full gear with his cleats on. He cuts in front of all of us and starts talking to the will call lady then points at these two ladies that were standing there. I guess he was getting a couple tickets for Rickey's groupies, so he got tickets and ran off up the ramp again. I was standing right next to the guy who had been my favorite player since I was around 6 years old. I did'nt even bother asking him for an autograph, the man had work to do.

I would ask to shake his hand and search quickly for something that he could autograph. I'd tell him I admire him on and off the ice/field (I have two favorites- one for hockey and one for baseball- I can't decide in this fantasy which one I'm meeting.. but it would both be similar, in either case!) I may ask him why the elevator is moving so slowly and maybe move in a bit closer. It would be AFTER the meeting that I would break down and call all my friends and family and act like a complete school girl! lol

Hi A-Rod. You're the best, and those who think otherwise are fools!
By the way, I have met Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Phil Rizzuto, Pete Rose, Jim Brown, David Robinson, David Wright, Daryl Strawberry, Bob Feller, Mookie Wilson, many Yankees of the 50's (Joe Collins, the 1st Baseman, was my neighbor in NJ), and others I have forgotten.

I'm a big fan of yours. I think you're a class act on and off the field. You're a great role model to young kids. You probably get those kinds of comments a lot.

Been there, I met a couple of my favorite hockey players where I worked and I just treated them like regular customers. I acted like it was no big deal.

"Dude, how much effing longer am I gonna have to wait for a World Series, not like you didn't make enough last year."
This is what I would ask of any Chicago Cub that makes more than minimum wage. Oh yea, that's all of them!

Best way to stay cool in the presence of some celebrity, just imagine them standing there in their underwear.

Ask them if at the end of the day if they feel they have fulfilled what they set out to accomplish for the day. Why not something ask myself.
