They played the rockies ok....the rockies played like shyt on every game, its not like they had good competition, there were teams that could have done WAY better than the rockies, they barely even scored

I heard that due to a contractual agreement, the Rangers still pay A-Rod a salary. Is that true? If so, how much and for how much longer?

For the many citizens of Red Sox Nation who live far-flung from the Fens, click here to see the glory of today's Boston Globe front page. Sometimes a website isn't enough.

I'm curious what others thought. Personally, I found it to be incredibly boring, likely because one team was obviously far better than the other. Very little drama, a sweep, and a terrible performance at home from the Rockies.

Anyway, congrats to the Sox. They were the best team in baseball pretty much all year, and it's good to see them win something they deserved. It's just too bad that it had to be so dull for those of us not on the East Coast.

I think that's the only way Owners will get the message across that this salary situation is getting out of hand & that they will not take it anymore. I already know that will not happen but imagine if it did.

They couldn't have waited for the game to at least be over? They had to try to outshine Boston's accomplishment last night & as usual A-Rod showed it's always about him & being a robot for Boras. And before anyone says I'm just a bitter yankee fan i was against him coming to the Yankees from the get go. I was not happy when the Yanks got rid of Soriano for him.

If the Indians had held on and beat the Bosox, who would've won the World Series?

I know I would. And it would be much better than letting him go to the Angels, who the M's have a hard enough time with anyway.

Based on the length of his greatness, seasons of dominance, career stats. I think he is, based on the criteria I used. Please give your reason you think Young is the best ever, or your reason for another pitcher. Thanks.

At the end of last nights game the crowd was cheering quite loudly. Were there that many Sox fans at the stadium or were the Rockies fans displaying good sportsmanship?
I hope it was a bit of both.

I'm specifically thining of the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry but others get nasty, too -right down to long-time buddies who will fight because they are on different bowling teams.
Rivalries are fun, I can't deny that. It is fun to poke fun at the fan of another team especially if they are losing. But these days people will beat up strangers for rooting for the 'other' team and even kill them. But as a Sox fan I wouldn't use the word hate to decribe my feelings for the Yankees.
Where is the fun? What hapened to class? Why is it so intense?

He opted out 25 million a year with 3 years left. He's 32 years old. He's looking for another 10 year contract. Who in their right mind will pay him 25 or more for another 8 or 10 years? Is Arod stupid? He thinks he opts out of 3 to get 8 or 10 at the SAME ridiculous 25+ million a year salary. Talk about dumb. Nobody's gonna pay him 25 mil up to 40-42 years old.

manager, catcher, reliever and pitchers signed, not that they won't get that done. Pay-Rod is a disgrace, you agree?

"We didn't want to enter in a discussion of the economic parameters until we knew the status of players because that was central to Alex's decision," Boras said.

Can the Steinbrenner boys screw things up any worse? Torre gone. A-Rod gone. Probably Mariano, Pettite, and Posada gone.

What are they thinking? Or are they just recklessly deconstructing a pretty good team with their newfound power?

(I have zero respect for them based on the way they handled Joe Torre. They will have to win some World Series before they get any respect from me. I class them with Jerry Jones the way he handled Tom Landry.)

Not only do we have to suffer from an entire year with the hated Red Sox having swept the World Series, the Steinbrenner boys seem to be systematically destroying the Yankees.
