He opted out 25 million a year with 3 years left. He's 32 years old. He's looking for another 10 year contract. Who in their right mind will pay him 25 or more for another 8 or 10 years? Is Arod stupid? He thinks he opts out of 3 to get 8 or 10 at the SAME ridiculous 25+ million a year salary. Talk about dumb. Nobody's gonna pay him 25 mil up to 40-42 years old.

Arod is not stupid. Even if he is it's Scott Boras, a very shrewd man, who is making the decisions

Baseball execs are not the best brains in the world. They make impulsive decisions and lack the long term view of things. I don't blame them entirely because most of the fans want a championship very quickly.

The bottom line is that Arod will take away 30 million dollars that can almost buy a team's entire starting rotation. Whatever his numbers may be it is not worth it unless they make a rule that he can bat twice in the 9 man lineup.

I'm not sure this is about money. Your gonna hear a lot of scenerios concerning the $$$ because eventually he will sign to the highest bidder but I don't think Arod is concerned about making another 250 million over the next 10 seasons. I think he wants to win but I think he wants to play somewhere that puts less pressure on him.

The folks in Texas are dancing right now.

If you played for a boss who didn't appreciate you and for fans that booed you and you already had taken in enough money to live to be 25,000 years old, you'd do what he did. The only question is: are YOU stupid? Money seems to be all you value in life. Good for Alex Rodriguez.

he's not stupid, he is trying to sucker another team into not making the WS by him being on their roster...
one team that definitely will not be looking to sign him is the rangers...
he has a horrible agent... but he is good if he can sucker a team into signing him for more than 30 mil a year...

There is no doubt in my mind that A-Rod will sign a long term contract worth more money than the one he just had.

His agent is pretty crafty, so I am sure he will do just fine and you will be gritting your teeth at his obscene contract, LOL.
