manager, catcher, reliever and pitchers signed, not that they won't get that done. Pay-Rod is a disgrace, you agree?

"We didn't want to enter in a discussion of the economic parameters until we knew the status of players because that was central to Alex's decision," Boras said.

He definitely had a right to opt out of his contract. Was it really a good decision? Only time will tell.
The Yankees really didn't help their cause by dumping their iconic manager and then saying the next manager will not be held to the same standards.
The Rangers must be having a huge party today with the $21 million they are going to save if this decision holds.
Again, like I have been saying in previous answers about A-Rod... if you want a definite future HOFer on your team to drive attendance and revenue for your team, go ahead and sign him to whatever you want to. BUT if you want to even appear in a World Series game, let alone win the Series, DON'T sign him.
He's smart, Boras is smart, hopefully for their sake it turns into a good decision... suckering a stupid team for $30 or more... hopefully not my team...
Should he get paid $25 or more a year? For individual accomplishments, heck, yeah... but if you want to talk about playoff production... he shouldn't even be clearing $10 a year...

I don't agree. Baseball is a business for both sides, not just the Yankees. A-Rod has every right to do whatever he wants on his end to secure his future at whatever amount he is worth. The ability to opt out of his contract at seven years was there for a reason and he took advantage of it.

He thinks Angels or Mets will pay him that money. Maybe even the cubs. The bottom line is I think he wants another 10 year contract PLUS he wants to shift back to short stop.

Blame it on derek jeter.

I don't think he was looking forward to being with NY knowing they will be stumbling around trying to remake the team, stadium and franchise. It won't be your daddy's Yankees.

Well, with his history of winning so many championships every year he can't bear the thought of not winning one.
