I know I would. And it would be much better than letting him go to the Angels, who the M's have a hard enough time with anyway.

He certainly doesn't suck, however, would you welcome him back at any price?
When you start getting into the mid 20's, 30's of millions of dollars per year for 8 to 10 years, do you really believe you can't get better value than that?

Arod is NOT even clearly the best player (which is why I will always dispute that he could ever be the 'best ever')
This year, his offensive production was the best, but it wasn't last year or the year before.

Would you rather have a $30 mil Arod, or two $15 mil players, or 3 $10 mil players. I would always favour more at less.
Arod or Hunter and Santana
Arod or Beckett and Ortiz
Arod or Wells and Halladay.
Arod or Kazmir, Crawford and BJ Upton

For every team in the majors, I could name 2 or 3 players in combination that I would rather have over Arod.

If you get a chance to sign him at $16, $18, $20 mil, sure, better that one player than any other player at those prices, but really.

Boras has Arod believing that stuff about "arod is really a billion dollar player"

Pay for performance, when he has an off year, you should pay him an off-amount. If you are brining him in to get you to the playoffs, then if he doesn't, then he's worth less. If you are already a playoff team and you are getting him to bring home the trophy, well, then,,,, I have some land in Florida for you.

Edit - Nice post there by Brett. Very well-reasoned and a good argument. Now, back to me.

Anyone who doesn't think A-Rod would help their team is an idiot.

All this stupid talk about his "lack of clutch" or whatever you want to call it is ridiculous. First off, 99% of those who study baseball stats seriously realize that, over a career, players' clutch stats will mirror their regular stats - in other words, clutch doesn't even exist. Secondly, if you check his career stats, his clutch numbers are as good as most of those who people believe are clutch.

I'm a Jays fan, and I'd love to have him on my team. I don't care about any baggage he might bring to the team because his 50+ homers and high OBP more than make up for any bad feelings it might cause. I know we have no chance to get him, but I'd be ecstatic if it ever happened. You have a decent young shortstop out in Seattle, but getting A-Rod to play any position would be a coup.

There is no way in the world th M's would be able to afford his salary and I seriously doubt he would take a pay cut to go back there. He will probably end up a Red Sox or a Cub.

Any team should want him, look at his career numbers. Not many ballplayers in the history of the game can point to numbers like his.

why would we want arod?
he sucks
and all he does is make his team lose every year.
he isn't clutched at all. he fails when it comes to the big games. and for me, the mariners lost too many "big games" last season.
jesus christ, 20 game losing streak or something?
after we were within 2 of the angels?
John Mc. Sucks, and i want hardgrove back and AROD shouldn't be back. NO ONE WOULD WELCOME HIM ANYWAYS
haveyou ever been to a yankees, mariners game?
they all boo him when he steps up so i guess you're the only retard left in seattle to want him
