Yes, definitely. While his numbers aren't those of some other HoF third baseman (Mike Schmidt, Brooks Robinson, Wade Boggs...) he was still one of the best hitters of his era and one of the best fielders. He never had 200 hits, which kind of lowers his chances, and he only hit .300 three times, but he was still a good power hitter and could win ballgames with his bat.

Yes he should. He was the premier 3rd baseman during the 1960s in the NL. He has stats comparable to B Robby over the same time, and was the anchor of a very good infield at the time, (Beckett, Kessinger and Banks). 3rd basemen always have a harder time making the Hall than most other positions. One thing that rreally hurt Santo was that he missed the big HR explosion that hit baseball in the 1980s and 90, and Mike Schmidt put up such numbers for a three bagger that everyone got lost in the shuffle. Im afraid that Ron wont get in and he and Gil Hodges will be the best not to be in there. Its a shame, but unless the vetrens committee or old timers comittee or whatever wakes up, it dont look good for that old Cub.

Yes, absolutely.
Amazingly good hitter who played during a pitcher's era, and quite good defensively.
The Most Deserving Player Not In The Hall, and it is high time he got welcomed to the other side of the velvet rope.

Yes, he should be, if not just based on his numbers (homeruns: would be 3rd of 10 third basemen in the hall, RBI's: he would be 5th out of 10, Runs: 6th out of 10, slugging %: 4th out of 10, and OBP%: tied for 4th out of 10). And all of the still does not begin to touch what his passion is for the game of baseball. Ron Santo is Baseball!!!!!!!!! If he passes on and is not inducted it will be one of the cruelest acts MLB has ever done to one of its players.

As a Long time cubs fan, i feel he should be in the h.o.f. obviously not winning a world series has cost him the last couple of inductions,it's a shame because the man was the face of a storied franchise for so many years. Ronnie is H.O.F. Bound !!

Santo was a good player, probably the 3rd or 4th best third baseman of his era (Robinson, Schmidt, Boyer.)
It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Very Good.

Biff, man, you're wearing me out!! Yes, though. Santo, the NL Brooks Robinson. He's being robbed. One writer might be an all right guy, but 2 or more and you have The View with alzheimer's.

Santo was always kind of fat and not much of a base runner.
Plus, he was diabetic the whole time, which must have been a feat, playing major league ball and diabetic.
I am told he was born and grew up in the Northern Marianas Islands. (Saipan) and used to play there at Ada field in the late 50's early 60's.

Nope. And his constant crying on air about how we wants to be there, but not after he dies, is reason enough to vote no.
Look - he was not voted in by the writers. Now, he gets passed up by the vet comittee. So he has had a ton of chances. And they all come up no! That speaks volumes.

He and lots of other very good players who did not play in a news media town find it very hard to get in.
He has the credentials and should be there.
