I think since they were one of the best players of their generations they should be in, since numbers look out of whack with the steroids.

Nomar Garciaparra don't playing on Boston Red Sox as they had won the World Series w/o him. He was traded to Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline day in three ways trade.

Do you know that Nomar had received the World Series ring from Boston Red Sox while Boston visited to Chicago?

Why is the Barry Bonds steroid/Home Run record issue a racial one? The record he is breaking was set by a black guy (unlike when aaron was breaking babe ruths record), and steroids in baseball is (was) rampant for all races. So why is it that like 90% of whites thinks he used steroids while only 40% of blacks think he used steroids.

My son asked me this question, but if you think about its fascinating. Ruth retired in 1935 so he obviously passed someone from his era or before, but if you look at the top 100 career home run leaders there very few who played during and before Ruth, and their #'s are so small compared to Ruth. (eg.Jimmie Foxx at 14th with 534 home runs, but he still played for 10 years after Ruth retired). This means that when Ruth retired with 714 home runs the next closest player would have been way, way, way behind him. Is this true? I guess the simple question is when Ruth retired in 1935, who was in second place for career home runs and how many did he have?

I guess it may not be surprising that Ruth was so far ahead of everyone else as 1935 was still the early years of baseball and many of the great hitters we think of today came after 1935.

Ignore all rained-out and re-started games. I am not asking about the number of innings but the amount of time in hours and minutes. Who played against whom? Who won? If you can, how many innings?

Why won't the Baseball association check ALL the baseball players for steriods annually? I'm getting very sick and tired of all this steriods and corruption going on within baseball. Games are having to be redone, records are being messed up, and things are happening that shouldn't. I'm getting very close to not watching it at all if baseball doesn't get its act together.

Sammy, McGuire, Bonds, and all those guys should be expelled from baseball entirely.

BTW, what are you guys going to do when Bonds "breaks the record"? I hope everyone boos him and walks out of the stadium.

Do you think that Football will eventually replace Baseball as America's favorite pastime. I read that attendance lessens every season, due mostly to the fact that, in this fast-paced world, baseball is a slower moving game. I'd hate to see us lose a sport that is part of our heritage.
Any thoughts?

1B- Andy Phillips: he has really good potential at first and i think that he will be a nice assest to the club
2B- Robbie Cano: odviously he's a guy who the team could be potentially built around. he's a future all-star
SS- Derek Jeter: well, what is there to explain
3B-Alex Rodriguez: i'm really hopping that he doesn't opt out of his contract, hes just figuring out how to handle ny and the media, and isnt bothered by it anymore
LF- Hideki Matsui: he's great defensivly and offensivly
CF-Melky Cabrera- he has a good arm, much better in center then damon
RF- Bobby Abreu- once he gets going he'll be doing fine right?
C- Hip Hip Jorge!: i really hope that they resign Jorge. he's a great team player, hes phenominal, one of my favorite yankees
DH- shelley duncan: he's got a great swing, and i think that he could proove to be very valuable, not only as aDH but as a good utility player, he can play any position so if someone's injuried, he can fill in.

PH/PR: Johnny Damon: theres

Atlanta has a promising group of "kids". Saltalacchia is a teriffic hitter stuck in the same organization as a teriffic hitter who also plays catcher - Brian McCann
Yunel Escobar is a teriffic hitter who backs up Chipper Jones, Renteria, or Kelly Johnson.
Kelly Johnson is a versitle hustle player who converted to 2B but also plays OF
Willie Harris & Matt Diaz share left field. Harris is having a solid year at the plate and has speed to burn. Diaz is a "professional hitter" who could be extremely valuable to an A.L. team as a DH
Scott Thorman is having a down year but shows a lot of promise with his power.
There are a few pitchers who could generate interest: B Carlyle, W Ledezma, R Soriano, & O VIllarreal.
Which guys are you keeping and which would you be willing to part with? Do you agree that starting pitching has to be their focus? Do you propose moving some of the high priced vets (Chipper, Andrew, Renteria or someone else) to let these kids take over?

In 1961 they put an asterisk next to Marris's name when he broke Ruth's record because Ruth did it in fewer games. With all of the controversy surrounding Bond's and steroids should he have an asterisk beside his name?

We know that a right handed batter swings a bat right to left and a left handed batter vice versa, but what determines this?

For example I'm a left hander batter ie: I swing the bat from left to right but why does hitting this way label you a "left handed" batter??

(This applies to many other sports as well ie.hockey, golf, etc.

I am a big Red Sox fan. Say I was up in the Green Monster at a Red Sox game, and the other team hits a home run and I get the ball. Personally, if I got the ball and it was hit by a big rival of the Red Sox, I would throw it back. Could I get thrown out of the game by security for doing that?

i think that ( i think it was like 2days ago right?) he played some pretty great left field. he came up in the KC minor league system playing left field, so maybe its just natrual to him. he doesnt have a great arm and i dont htink center was ever his best position. i really like melky cabrera in center. do you think that possibly one day hideki matsui will play right field (or is that too hard of a switch to make?) and maybe johnny will play left? johnny cant DH for ever so what are we going to do when giambi gets back? i like phillips at first, but do you think they will send him back down to the minors and put giambi (or maybe damon) at first and have damon (or giambi?) DH? i personally think that giambi's days are over, theres no reason for him to be here anymore. how much longer is his contract? okay anyway, let me know what you guys all think about all this stuff. thanks :)

best answer to who ever gives the most logical, smart response that is most likely to happen. :)

Hank Aaron said that he thought the triple was a lot more exciting than the home run because the play lasted so much longer. I've always used triples as an unofficial tie-breaker when comparing hitters. Ryne Sandberg used to hustle and get his fair share of 3 baggers even though he played in Wrigley and it always tickled me. Jim Rice on year led the league with 16, which dumbfounded me! Babe Ruth had over a hundred and Willie Mays used to make me gasp when he legged one of his over a hundred lifetime triples out.
So what is a similar stat that you like. (There really is no reason why triples impress me, I just like the stat.) Yours might be a pitchers stat or whatever.
