Atlanta has a promising group of "kids". Saltalacchia is a teriffic hitter stuck in the same organization as a teriffic hitter who also plays catcher - Brian McCann
Yunel Escobar is a teriffic hitter who backs up Chipper Jones, Renteria, or Kelly Johnson.
Kelly Johnson is a versitle hustle player who converted to 2B but also plays OF
Willie Harris & Matt Diaz share left field. Harris is having a solid year at the plate and has speed to burn. Diaz is a "professional hitter" who could be extremely valuable to an A.L. team as a DH
Scott Thorman is having a down year but shows a lot of promise with his power.
There are a few pitchers who could generate interest: B Carlyle, W Ledezma, R Soriano, & O VIllarreal.
Which guys are you keeping and which would you be willing to part with? Do you agree that starting pitching has to be their focus? Do you propose moving some of the high priced vets (Chipper, Andrew, Renteria or someone else) to let these kids take over?

Almost every team is looking for a good starting pitcher and there is nothing available. The teams that are out of the race this year are going to hold on to their good pitchers for next year. It is a lot easier to come to a decision as to who you would be willing to give up than it would be to actually be able to work a deal with someone for a pitcher.

The Braves have a ton of young talent they could potentially trade. I'd hate to see Salty or Escobar go. If they did, the Braves better get a stud pitcher for either one of them. Both of those guys are kinda blocked though. McCann isn't going anywhere, and Salty doesn't look comfortable at all playing 1B. Escobar can play SS, 3B, and 2B...but he's not going to take Chipper's or Edgar's place anytime soon. K. Johnson is hitting a solid .290 and has power to hit 15+ homeruns a year. You'll take that out of your second baseman anytime. If I'm the Braves you've gotta make a move. Smoltz and Chipper aren't getting any younger. Andruw is probably playing his last year in Atlanta. So, the time is NOW. Roy Ozwalt's name is swirlling around, but only for a huge package. I think Salty and Escobar, and maybe a decent pitching prospect should be enough to get him. With a rotation of Smoltz, Ozwalt, and Huddy as your top 3 guns...you're talking about a World Series calibar rotation without giving up any starters. You're depth would go down, but it'd be worth it.

Well, I think we would be just fine if we gave up Thorman, Diaz, and Villarreal. Put Salty at first. He's young enough and seems to have plenty of baseball sense to learne the position.

Also, wouldn't have a problem seeing Andruw go if it's for the right price. We need plenty in return. Definitely need a future number 1 SP. If not a current number 1. Or, just a young SP that shows a lot of promise for the near future and a productive OF. Willie can play CF if we get a LF for Andruw.

Why does their front place of work no longer in any respect call me for help? I purely provided some Twins fan Thorman, Woodward, and Soriano for Johan Santana. you prefer a prospect -- we are able to have sufficient money to surrender Scotty T., a legitimate .290, 35, one hundred prospect, as long as (and that i will proceed to evangelise this on Yahoo solutions) we freakin' circulate Salty to 1st base. that's no longer complicated. Our bullpen is first rate, no longer super, yet your top that we prefer a high quality starter. Will Hampton come lower back wholesome? do no longer understand, and in addition, the Mets are ripe for choosing right now. i might hate to make certain us replace into like the Yanks, headhunting gamers for 2 months out of the season and the playoffs. that isn't genuine baseball. (somebody forward this to Steinbrenner.) Sophia, cool down. i'm attempting to repair the Braves right here, no longer inevitably help all of us else. relatively, i'm attempting to do away with Woodward for all and sundry. and perchance i'm biased, yet Scotty has a much bigger upside than you think of -- he'd probable be a greater advantageous slot in the AL the place no person cares if a 1B can field their place. So, no person of their top suggestions might make the deal, yet slightly momentary madness could help ATL (lol).

those are all your personal opinions on the braves young prospects since you are a fan of the team you are obviously going to look right past any weakness and focus much more on their projections just hope that they can produce down the road like they are expected to do and not be busts such as Pat Burrell you have no idea what would happen when they become everyday day players (except Brian) so i don't know it would be worth getting rid of all-star talent like Edgar Chipper or Andrew for a pitcher epically one who can not stay healthy for a full season in Rich Harden

As a huge Braves fan myself I think we need to part with our young talent ONLY to acquire YOUNG pitching.

That being said I absolutely love Saltalamacchia and don't want to see him go at all, same with Yunel Escobar.... I think he is just a younger version of Renteria.

I could see McCann, Thorman or Kelly Johnson go for the right price..... same with Ledezma

Willie Harris and Matt Diaz are both pretty damn good, both bring different dimensions to the team and also can pinch hit..... don't really want to part with them.

Would absolutely love to see the Braves bring in Rich Harden. Heard that one the other day; talk about some starting pitching..... damn

If it were up to me I would get rid of A.Jones he really hasn't produced this year even if he is having a good month. I can see Buddy Carlisle coming along as a pitcher he's got alot of talent -

If Andruw Jones isn't re-signing for next year, trade him for prospects.
